“Diverse Walking”

Loved the many different trails, from easy to difficult. No matter what trail one takes, they all lead to fantastic views.

“A great selection of walking trails”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Don't bother taking a hat on Lord Howe trails, nearly all of them are mostly in full cover in beautiful rainforest, expect steps, lots of steps, but the good thing about steps is that you are rewarded with spectacular view when you reach the top!

“Lots to choose from”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Lots of trails to chose from, but many of them are very rough, and some are very steep while others are closed during nesting seasons. So check before you go.

“Great variety of interesting walks”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

There are a range of walks on LHI suitable for almost all fitness levels. Walks are rated 1-5 in difficulty and distances from around 1/2 km to 4.5 km. Mt Gower is the only one rated as a 5, but at 4.5 km it requires an official guide and is an all day walk - it is a seriously physical "walk" and a big step up from the others, since it requires use of ropes to get up and down the mountain.

One of my favourites is the Clear Place walk - rated at a 2, it is about 2 km round trip and offers spectacular views to the SE, including Ball's Pyramid in the distance.

The Malabar walk offers spectacular views of the island and there were nesting seabirds right beside the track when we were there. Lots of uncommon seabirds such as tropic birds able to be seen fairly close.

There are brochures of the walks available on the island, and they are all fairly well signposted.

“Variety”

Plenty of different trails of difficulty, the Malabar and Kim's lookout a standout and the Goat cave very steep.
