We enjoyed a terrific afternoon of fishing out near Admiralty Islands. We were lucky to experience calm conditions although one chap on board was feeling quite queezy. (Folk who went out on previous days didn't fair so well but still said that they wouldn't have missed it for anything). Everyone caught an impressive number of very large fish. The crew were excellent - happy to instruct the newbies and were continually assisting the landing of our catches and rebaiting our lines. The boat only takes a small number of passengers and that makes it more enjoyable. We were accompanied by many shearwaters who were later rewarded during our journey back with fish guts as the crew cleaned and filleted the catch. Everyone was invited to take whatever they wished. We took 2 x fillets of kingfish and a fillet of golden trevally which was superb. This single fillet overlapped the frypan in which I just seared it in a little oil. It was ample to feed 3 x adults. The kingfish was a little dry but was delicious on the third night poached in a Thai green curry. The remainder of the fish is usually sold on to the various restaurants on the island. This time it was kept for the big Fish Fry on the following Sunday which was Discovery Day. We missed this as we flew home the day before. We would have loved to do Marine Adventures' other cruises eg around island cruise however the winds were too strong and the trips were cancelled. If we ever have the chance to stay on Lord Howe again we will definitely partake of the fishing trip again.
