“Perfect getaway”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

My husband and I stayed in the Beaver Creek Cabin for two nights. It was a much needed escape from the big city. The cabin is located in a quiet nook of a neighborhood. The interior was charming and authentic. It was very clean, but the bathroom had an overwhelming moldy smell. The bed was so soft and comfortable. The only other downfall was the spiders!! Each day we were killing many, many spiders. I know it's the woods, but it's a bit disconcerting to try and relax with the fear of another spider crawling on my leg. That being said, the little creatures still didn't stop us from enjoying a fire each night and lots of relaxation. Warning to tall people, the ceilings and doorways are very low. My husband is 6 feet and there were spots in the cabin where he could not stand up straight.

FYI: The websites boasts fresh breakfast baskets that include quiche, pastries, and fresh fruit. We did not get that--instead it was a selection of generic instant oatmeal, small yogurts, a clear container of granola, packets of sugar-free hot chocolate, and generic O.J. bottles. Definitely not worth an extra $16 a day. We returned them to the front desk at the restaurant and were refunded immediately, but it was still very disappointing.

Beaver Dam Creek cabin could not have been more charming. Fully equipped for a longer stay with dishes, cooking appliances etc. Being fortunate enough to have friends with "weekend getaway" cabins we were amazed at how clean cabin was kept - cabins in the woods are not easy to maintain since there are so many tiny "critters" out there looking for homes. Staircase winding around chimney to loft bed was a revelation. Great bathroom and plenty of space to hang changes of clothing to accommodate hiking - fine dining. Only caveat is need to DUCK to get to bed in rafters. There was even a "secret" path over creek to get to restaurant!

We used a 'groupon' coupon for our dinner & overnight stay...what a deal!!!!
When I called to make the reservation we were upgraded to Fair Oaks...the wonderful cabin near Stoughton Lake. Not sure what to expect as we had never been to Jennerstown. The dinner at Green Gables was 4 star...(Loved the wild mushroom dip!) Then off to our retreat in the woods. The cabin was well appointed and the cool, rainy night made the fire my husband built in the fireplace all that more wonderful. Enjoyed the sounds of the geese landing on the lake the next morning from the deck. When we returned the keys we walked the grounds at Green Gables - the stream we looked out over the night before during dinner was even better in the daylight. A wonderful birthday memory for me (the staff even texted a birthday message!) Have recommended this location to many...

Room Tip: Did a quick tour of the property by car the next day....would stay at any one of the properties!

My husband and I stayed in Beaver Dam Creek cabin for one night. This place was very cute and had alot of charm. Very private and quaint. This cabin had everything you needed. We went to Green Gables resturant for dinner. I will give the dinner a four star rating. The food was superb and the service was even better! Very romantic day and night.

We stayed in the beaver dam creek cabin. It was great. Small and cozy. was worried about it being too cold but it had plenty of heat. A fireplace and a gas heater. Word of caution though, if you leave the heater on all day the loft bedroom gets VERY HOT!!!!! Opening the window did little to help. But overall it was romantic, cozy, and fun. Would definitely go back.

We stayed in the "cabin" and it was the sweetest, most romantic place we have been. The fireplace was perfect, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the stream that nearly flowed to the back door gave us the ambiance and all the amenities of home!
Price was about right, we did not eat in the restaurant, tho because of the price. We did partake of the wine/beer tasting at $25.00 per person and were so pleased! Great appetizers and wonderful glasses of wine/beer! What fun and what a great atmosphere!

We stayed in the Hideaway Suite at Huddleson Court and found it to be very comfortable, clean and cozy. There is a full kitchen, fireplace, dining area, spacious bedroom and a pretty view from the front of the house. Although it is private, the walls are a little thin which meant we could hear a full conversation of the people in the adjoining suite. It wouldn't prevent me from staying here again, but it is noteworthy if this would bother you immensely. Overall it was very convenient, having all of the comforts of home and was a joy to come "home" to at the end of a busy day of sightseeing in the Laurel Highlands. Just a note of caution; the beaver dam creek cabin has gone downhill since other reviewers stayed there and so I would not recommend staying in the cabin. I would however recommend staying at this particular suite, the Hideaway or any of their newer suites which are in the same building. Once I saw the Hideaway suite, I knew I'd enjoy my time there.

Room Tip: Ask for the Hideaway Suite or one of the suites in that building
