“Lovely room in a peaceful setting”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

We had a very large room with a lovely balcony in the guesthouse with a huge closet and mini-refrigerator. Room included lounge chair, small table and chairs, king bed.

However, there were no luggage racks, so we had to use the floor or bed. The bedspread had a worn, greasy sheen, perhaps from luggage. It didn't look very clean, and that was a turn-off. The bed was comfy, but the pillows were too thick and firm. We requested replacements for our second night, but the pillows hadn't arrived by the time we returned from dinner after 8:30 p.m. They appeared on the floor outside our door the next morning.

Other than the bedspread, our room and bathroom seemed very clean. We had a large shower with good water pressure, nice counter space, decent linens. WiFi was available but we couldn't access our U.S. email accounts on computer or phone for some reason.

The included cooked breakfast was delicious, and included a choice of eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, coffee/tea, fruit and cereal. However, it was served from 8 to 9:30 am, which we thought a bit early when on holiday. It didn't matter since the construction next to our room started at 8 am, complete with equipment backup alerts and loud workmen--a minor niggle, and the construction should be completed soon.

The friendly, open, chatty owners have created a lovely property. We enjoyed the peaceful lakeview, the musical bellbirds and the curious kangaroos. In Merimbula, we loved the fascinating Wednesday aquarium tour, and returned for a delicious dinner with incredible views at its Wharf Restaurant.

Hi Folks,

We are glad that for the most part you enjoyed your stay with us.
I apologise for the noise from the construction and can assure you that all works are completed now. Also we are now in the process of updating the soft furnishings of our accommodation to a more modern standard.
If you ever come back downunder we would love for you to pay us a visit.

Kind Regards

This wonderful lakeside location just on the edge of town is let down by the suburban character of this motel's the decor and service. It's probably amongst the better of the disappointing range of motels in Merimbula, except without the convenience of actually being centrally located. The lake front walk is beautiful, but don't attempt it at night as the last bit towards Robyns Nest is difficult to follow... The food offering is basic and only available if you book - clearly no one had when we went up to check whether we could get a last minute meal. On the up side they will give you a lift into town. I'm not a fan of all that floral...

Room Tip: It would be a shame to come here and not be able to see the lake

Thank you for your review.
I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us.
You will be happy to hear that we are in the process of making a few changes that may address some of your concerns.
We are currently updating the soft furnishings of all our accommodation to be more modern.
We have also updated our breakfast menu and will be launching a new dinner menu upon the restaurants re-opening. Also I agree that the walk into town is not too friendly after dark, could tell a few stories about that.
I do hope that you would consider a return visit to see the changes in progress.

Kind Regards
Greg

My wife and I spent the easter break with Robyn and her family. We stayed in the deluxe room. Absolutely wonderful. Very spacious, huge comfy bed. Great shower. Huge deck overlooking the lake.Everything was spot on. Robyn was a lovely host. Her husband Michael ferried us into town when we needed to leave the car.The restaurant is excellent. Overall, a great place to stay for a few nights.Shane and Linda.

Travelling from Canberra to Melbourne, we had just one night at Robyn's Nest in March... and wished we could have stayed a week!

We had a large room in the guesthouse, with ensuite and dressing room. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome to the quality bathroom items and chocolates in the room. Comfy bed and quality furnishings throughout the facility.

Breakfast was delicious, best omelet I've ever had!

The location is superb, tranquil outlook over the lake, sunrise was spectacular. Facilities were excellent, though we didn't have time to use them. This means we have to come back!

Hosts are great, very engaging but not intrusive. Best B&B we've stayed in.

what a great discovery-- we have travelled and ate at many places and this is first class--it is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of life -- for a weekend--or a extended stay or a stop off on the way through to ??? -- the place has been lovingly and thoughtfully designed--and the experience begins when you turn off the busy highway and meander down the private bitumen road the the typical Australian bush and vegetation -- passing kangaroos grazing in the open areas in the bushland -- glimpses of the Merimbula lake through the bushland crossing over a dam that teams with wild ducks and upon arriving you are greeted with the sounds of wild bird life amongst the trees-- nature is about the only noise you'll hear at Robyns nest -- we were greeted by Greg the manager -- who immediately made us feel welcome -- Greg quickly gave us a description of the area and what we could visit while staying -- we were here in March 2014 -- and the current web site does not do justice to just how great this place is -- I am told that they about revamp there whole online presence-- but hey, read the reviews and it is every bit as true as to what people say about it--- if you are a world traveller passing through -- make this a destination stop over--- you won't be disappointed -- plus Merimbula is a very lovely part of Australia and worth a stop over for a couple of days --- or you may just want to escape your world for a couple of days like we did-- you wont find better --all the boxes are ticked

Room Tip: all the rooms are good -- it has been very thoughtfully laid out -- it will really come down to your...

We didn't stay here but ate at the restaurant.
Service was good, but not obtrusive. Our waitress was happy and freely gave recommendations re the food.
It was valentine evening and we enjoyed the Chocolate lovers plate for two as our dessert
The location is great, so am sure a stay here would be lovely

My partner & I stayed in one of the self contained cabins for 7 nights over the 2013/2014 new year. The selection to stay at Robyn's Nest was not deliberate, we started looking late and chose mainly by availability - although the online pictures of the location were pretty stunning!
We both lead a hectic lifestyle in Sydney and Robyn's Nest was exactly what we needed - welcoming, lovely accommodation, beautiful surrounds, relaxation and absolutely gorgeous scenery - loved waking to the sunrises and the bellbirds. Cannot forget to mention the beautiful sunsets, so many rich colours! We both love the beach and water, swimming, snorkelling and a bit of scuba for me, so the whole coast, Eden, Merimbula to Tarthra to us is heaven sent.
Recommend Robyn's Nest without hesitation!
