“A must!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013 via mobile

We have a holiday house at nearby Mollymook, and found out about this place last year. Since then, we make aping of going whenever we're down for a break.
The menu is not extensive, but makes excellent use of whatever is fresh and in season, with much coming from their own nearby gardens.
Thursday "locals night" is great value, with 3 courses and a glass of wine for $55 a head. And you get a choice from 2 mains and 2 desserts.
The location is beautiful, particularly during the day or in the early evening once daylight saving starts.
Decor is plain, and the place can get a bit noisy when (as often happens) it's packed. But in fine weather, you can sit outside on the verandah, and enjoy relative serenity.
Service is excellent and knowledgeable, with country friendliness on top of those qualities.
The food has never failed in our many visits (or those of our friends and family). Te menu is small, no doubt to ensure that everything gets proper attention. No doubt for the same reason, the pace is relaxed.
Everything is prepared and cooked to perfection, and with really deft use of spices, accompaniments and condiments. The flavours shine through; they never have to struggle with some overambitious attempt to achieve novelty. The produce is the story.
The wine list is small but good in variety, reasonably priced and with an acceptable range by the glass.
By local standards the prices are on the high side, but by city standards they're nothing excessive. And whatever way you view it, the value is terrific.
Don't miss it if you're in the area.

“Good find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

Went here last Friday night as we were down for the weekend from Sydney. Excellent food & a surprise to find it in Milton. They grow their own herbs & veg & the meals all tasted delicious (favourite was the white anchovies for a starter). Great service & friendly staff. I think it's a little bit on the pricey side for somewhere so far from the big smoke but none the less we walked away feeling we had had an exceptional meal.

“This place has it all - location, service and delicious food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

St Isidore is apparently the patron saint of farmers. A taxi driver recommended St Isidore to us as he was dropping us at Rick Stein at Bannisters for dinner the previous night. He said it was his preferred dinner place in the area. Service a little sketchy but overall very friendly and helpful. The location is gorgeous with views onto a farm and market garden etc and the food was fantastic. Dish of the day was "Berkshire pork belly, prosciutto, sauerkraut, apple, almonds" - absolutely superb. I also loved the cow painting at the far end of the bar. Well worth a visit.

“A BIT DISAPPOINT THIS TIME ROUND”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

Don't get me wrong this is a good restaurant and the food cannot be faulted and was superb but....its so expensive for a country town restaurant. I know if gets good reviews and I think I gave it 5 out 5 last time I ate there but something wasn't right this time, when we sat down, with the decor or table settings. It felt bland and in need of something like a spring clean so to speak. They have very plain tables with no covering except for the mandatory little candle on our table, it just didn't set the right atmosphere.
Then there is the menu that is limited to 5 main meals and no chicken dish! (probably too common). I had a really nice steak and i paid $39.00 for it which is in the top end of steak meals. I can live with that but the ridiculous priced cutlets my wife had didn't impress us. 2 cutlets with 2 bites in them each for $37.00!! It would have been a nice entree for me.
I guess in summary if money isn't an issue then its a great restaurant for a meal but they need to work on their decor, it felt a bit bland and had no atmosphere.

“Excellent food and sevrice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2013

We went here to celebrate my birthday and were so glad that we did.
Service was friendly and prompt without being overbearing. Bottle of red we ordered was lovely.
Entrees of octopus and mozzarella were yum. Pork belly and rib eye mains were delicious as were the green beans we had. The cheese in oil with bread at the start of the meal had a nice flavour. Dessert of poached pear with crumble and ice cream topped off the evening. Sweet without being sickly.

This is the best meal we have had for a while and we would eagerly return. The price was also not too bad totalling $160
