The location of this place is superb - easy walk to the marina, beaches, whale watching cruises, shops and restaurants. Our room had a fabulous view overlooking the d'Alboro marina. That's pretty much where the positives stop and the negatives begin.

On arrival our room appeared surface-clean, although very dated, in need of refurbishment and in some aspects, repair: frayed carpet, iron-burn marks in carpet and white-ring stains on wooden furniture and a very old television. The room aircon unit was noisy, ineffective and (externally) very rusty. Sickeningly, there were patches of thick fresh black mould on what seemed to be an almost new shower screen frame in the bathroom, white silicon had been placed over old mould when the shower recess had been re-grouted and the bathroom ceiling had many patches of mould along the edges.

A 3 course dinner and breakfast were included in our room rate. The menu choice for dinner was extremely limited and, when asked, the cook (who also took the orders and waited on the tables) couldn't provide any bread or rolls to go with the soup entree, because they don't include bread with dinner - or coffee afterwards, although the coffee warmers were there with half-filled coffee pots left over from brekky. Despite the limitations, dinner was actually tasty and adequate and all the food was fresh. The hot breakfast foods in the morning were all very cool, temperature wise. An elderly woman re-set a breakfast table for us - she simply plonked fresh paper place mats over the toast crumbs and juice spills from the previous diners!

We'd booked for a weekend and on the second night had people in the room next to us and discovered that there is absolutely no sound-proofing and that the hot water service and plumbing needs upgrading too - we got almost cold showers because they got to the bathroom first and we knew that because of the racket from the pipes!!

Extremely disappointing. Wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Queen beds and views from 2nd floor up

51 residents of our Rowville (Vic) Retirement Village spent five nights at the Marina Resort. We were accommodated on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the Resort in large comfortable rooms, all with ocean views, flat screen TV's comfortable beds and Buffet style hot cooked breakfasts and a wide choice of Buffet style choices for dinner. The staff were pleasant and always obliging and helpful. Another Tour Group of 20+ spent three nights at the Resort during the time we were there and the added numbers didn't present problems. This has good central Resort style food and accommodation and should appeal especially to touring groups.

Room Tip: Deal directly with the Resort Management!

stayed two nights, it was quiet and comfortable, room was nice. Pool was not dirty as noted in other reviews. Management upgraded our room to first floor with view on our arrival, as we had one night booked on ground level and second night booked on 1st floor (had done booking on wotif for last minute accomodation, so had two separate bookings).TV was not flatscreen as pictured on website, but foxtel worked no problem. This resort is 5 minutes walk down to marina, off street parking, staff were helpful, and we had a great stay. Its not five star, but then it is priced appropriately to its rating.

Room Tip: ground floor has no view, 1st floor was lovely

3 star quality. Apart from a great location, the building is in need of major maintenance. Pool old, spa not hot.Rooms are average. A spa bath is an old 70's bath tub. Over priced. Over rated. Nothing luxurious. Not worth it.

The rooms do not match the pictures on the website. The room was very dated. The bathroom was more like a public toilet for handicapped people.
This hotel is not worth the money. The TV is an outdated cathode ray tube not the flat screen in the pictures. The remote did not work.
The sliding door was off the runners. The staff were friendly but of little use.
The room was clean. I would expect this level from a small country town motel. Not a resort in a premier location.

I only stayed here one night and arrived quite late at night then departed quite early. So it was literally a bed for the night. With that in mind, it served its purpose well. We were put on a ground floor room so as not to make too much noise when we arrived, which was thoughtful of other guests. We didn't have much of a view, but didn't really need it! The room was very comfortable and clean which was what we needed. If I was coming here for a holiday, I wouldn't return to the Marina Resort.
