Even though we have been to Nelson Bay many times before we had never ventured up the hill at the end of Little Beach.
Even though the day was overcast and raining the view was still amazing!
The coffee was average - a little too milky for my liking. We ordered banana bread and the scones which were both ok however a bit on the pricy side for standard cafe nibbles.
The table next to us ordered the breakfast bruschetta and scrambled eggs which looked delicious!
A nice place to visit if you are in the area.

We enjoyed scones with cream and jam, milk shakes and coffee - all were excellent!! We have had a toasted sandwich before too, which was good.

The parking can be difficult as there are only a few spots up the hill.

After you eat, go for a walk upstairs to the lighthouse where they monitor the boats - good for the kids (age 3,5). There is also a small gift shop for the kids to look at.

Don't expect a gourmet dining experience, but the view is spectacular.

The Inner Light is located in the old lighthouse station. The location and view cannot be beaten. The food is very nice, my wife says that the seafood crepe is definitely a winner. The service is quick, competent and friendly. What's not to like? Sometimes the parking can be a bit tight but there is limited room on the headland to expand it. The attached museum is also worth a visit.

Great location.

We first went on our visit to the Nelson Bay area last year and had it down as "must return" for this year.

Only had coffee, shakes and scones. I think the scones were the same batch as an earlier reviewer - wouldn't have them again.

Coffee and shake was good.

Will definitely go back for the view and ambience (but will try something from the menu).

I came to the cafe after looking on the website and brochures which all made it look fantastic. Unfortunately it was raining on the day but the view was still great and would have been better on a sunny day. I ordered the scones and a coffee and expected something spectacular. I waited 20 minutes and had to ask for them to check on my scones. Everyone else had got their meals which had to be cooked, how long does it take to microwave some scones? When they arrived they were less than impressive, still stuck together and very floury on the outside. They did not taste fresh and were very dry/crumbly. The jam tasted artificial with whipped cream out of the can, not what I would expect in the country area. The coffee was very nice though. I would not come back again.
