This is a delightful motel situated so close to the harbour. The host is warm and engaging, and gives great travel advice. We love the garden setting and the little touches which render the place comfortable. Very good value for money, especially in the off peak season.

My husband and I found this little motel tucked away from the noise, hustle and bustle of Nelson Bay, quite by accident. We are so glad we did. The rooms were clean, comfortable - the bed was wonderful- and very tastefully decorated. It was the attention to detail in the décor which made us feel so much at home. The room we occupied was only small-medium, but that only added to the feeling of home-away-from-home. Friendly and comfortable. Thanks Tom. Hope we can come and stay again. Sorry we couldn't find you before we left to tell you in person how much we enjoyed our overnight stay with you.

The owner was so kind and helpful. The units were very clean and tidy and the shower had great pressure! We were travelling with our teenage kids and we were given such a great rate for two rooms and the kids really enjoyed the WiFi.

During our two night stay Tom had us feeling like family. He was very helpful with information on where to go for great seafood, where to find wildlife and on Australian culture. On a windy day, he brought a hot 'brekky' to our room. We love how our car was in a car port, under the rooms. Breakfast is outdoors when it's not cold, but under cover. A short walk to downtown, and the local golf course, where 100 kangaroos live. The motel is surrounded by large trees, full of galahs and sulphur-crested cockatoos, all singing in the morning. The room felt like everything was in just the right place, and had nice little touches in the bedroom and bathroom. Yes, not luxury, but very accommodating. Enjoyed the balcony looking out onto the tree-covered lot. We would always return here when in Port Stephens.

Room Tip: Great when room faces the empty lots covered with trees.

This is a very basic old fashioned type motel with tired furnishings in the room. There was, however, a flatscreen TV and tea and coffee making facilities although it is difficult to fill the jug from the bathroom tap.
Wi Fi was available but had to go down to reception area to get logged on each time. The staff member on duty was very helpful.
The Lodge is walking distance from the Nelson Bay restaurants which is a plus.
The Lodge was quite busy on the night we were there so it must compare fairly well with other motels in the area but modernisation is overdue - especially at $119 per night for room only.

our mini bus with a group of linedancers up for the weekend arrived in dreadful weather on 1st march, with heavy rain and wind we were bound to get wet alighting from bus, but tom had us sorted out and into our rooms, carrying the ladies bags up the stairs, which we much appreciated. that night we had planned a bbq at the motel, which still went ahead but not in the beautiful conditions we expected, a warm summers evening. tom did all the cooking for us, and kept sweeping away the water gathering under our feet. tom also came to our rescue when our bus became bogged along side the motel, plus our little bus had developed gear problems ,but first thing first, calling a tow truck to pull us out, but in the end a lovely local guy offered us help and the bus was back on dry land. tom in the meantime was ringing around local bus depots, making enquiries as to how our group might get back to sydney on the sunday if our bus was 'detained'. he even drove the ladies in shuttle service in his car to the local rsl for dinner, plus offered us free acommodation if we were unable to get home on the sunday.
so we would like to thank Tom for going 'over and above' the call of duty, for all that he did to help us out, we appreciated it very much. and if anyone is looking for accomm, this is' the' motel in town to stay. thanks again Tom.

Room Tip: they all good rooms

13 family members travelled to nelson bay for a reunion and had a very pleasant stay at the friendly PSML. Tom went out of his way to be helpful, even extending one room to help our niece and her two kids. He then drove them to the newcastle airport as our son had had a prang in town on his way home. Well above and beyond any expectations.
The room was neat and clean. Very well positioned near town centre.
