I was pleasantly surprised with this "Budget" motel, rooms were clean and well maintained. Coffee, tea, milk and a kettle were all supplied in the room. Along with basic toiletries. TV a bit small but had plenty of cable channels including a movies, History ect.

Well located for the Diggers (RSL) Club which has good meals and drinks at great prices. Get a members card especially if you are a Pensioner $5 Full member $12 gets you discounts on drinks (75c) Food $2 :)

Beautiful area and lots of nice beaches and walks.

Would definitely stay here again.

The receptionist / owner? is very rude, bad attitude. The room is very dirty and very 'smelly'. When we went to the room, we flushed the toilet and found that it did not work properly. We tried to call reception, nobody picked up the phone. There is no internet service. Swimming pool is very dirty. Nobody can help at all. If you live in this accomodation, please prepare to help yourself.

The Family took a 3 night stay in October 2013. Stayed in a Peninsula palms three bedroom. excellent value for money for a family of 5, accommodation was wonderful very clean, comfortable relaxing and very easy walk across the road to the Main Hotel for a lovely swim in a very well maintained Pool. With very friendly Staff to assist us, I highly recommend. We will stay again. Nelson/Shoal Bay is absolutely beautiful, can't wait till we come again.

Booked in to their 2 star rooms expecting something awful but was pleasantly surprised when the room was spacious & clean, the bed was comfortable & the air conditioner worked. So much better than another place we have stayed for similar money (Formule 1) with a nice roomy shower and great water pressure. Will stay again if we go to Nelson bay as it is only 2 min walk to the diggers club & 20 mins in to town.

Booked a last minute stay at the Peninsula for $90 a night. I expected a very basic room, with not much at all to offer..

Pulled in and was pleasantly surprised as how detailed, well kept and large The Penninsula is! The reception arranged for our key to be kept in a lock box, which was central and easy to find! When we walked into the room, I was amazed to say the least...

The room was quite modern, we had a balcony (which indicated I was given a free upgrade), the setting for the balcony was the pool area, which was quite nice given the amount of flora... The bathroom looked to be no more then a year old - and the water pressure in the shower was great!!! (this is something i always notice... i hate low pressure)...

When we checked out, the reception also forgave the fact we had some of the mini bar (very, very cheap part... but still - a lot of brand name hotels wouldnt let it go)...

Bed was a bit soft for me... Did feel like I sunk into it a bit... But, thats not uncommon for hotels in general I find... either to hard or to soft usually :/

Also, location is not central to anything... You will need a car....

Over all.. Great exp... I would deff go back to the Penninsula if I needed a short stay in Port Stephens!! :) Great hotel!...

Stayed here on easter weekend and paid double for an 'executive room' which really wasn't anything special at all so I would shudder to think what the basic rooms are like. The bed was so bouncy and every move was felt and was like a bouncy castle! The balcony was about 2 foot wide and isn't really what I would call a balcony - it was just a very small space round the room. It's also pretty far from Nelson Bay - it's about a 20 minute walk and the start is very dark so if you are walking, it's not the best place to stay at all - we ended up driving one night. The staff/owners I agree were really not friendly or in the slightest bit welcoming. We went to check in and the woman just moaned about the cheek of someone calling up to ask about availablity for one night! We also got shooed away when we thought we could walk to our room through reception - we had to walk down through the car park. She was just playing computer games!!I wouldn't stay here again.
