We had booked two rooms, one only available at arrival.
Manager unhelpful and very rude. Never back again.

We booked our accommodation through lastminute.com. We stayed in the 3.5 star standard room.

The room is definitely not 3.5 stars. It doesn't look like the photos on the website. The room was very dark and stingy looking very old inside. The minibar only had coke and water in it. The fridge was smaller than a normal minibar fridge so you couldn't put any of your own things in there. The extractor fan in the bathroom was so loud that it woke everyone else up at night.

The weather was also miserable which made it worse because it meant spending more time in the Motel room which wasn't very nice. The room had foxtel which we thought would help but when we looked there was only sport and National Geographic. We booked for two nights but only stayed one we cut our losses and went home early.

We chose Nelson Bay for our first night's stop on the drive between Sydney and the Sunshine Coast, hoping to visit beaches and maybe do a whale-watching trip but the weather was against us so it was a brief overnight stay. We hadn't booked in advance so went to the Information Centre who recommended the Peninsula Motor Inn and booked us in from there. Unfortunately once we reached the Peninsula, reception didn't have any confirmation of our reservation, in spite of us having seen the email being sent. It wasn't a problem though as we had the relevant paperwork showing our end of the booking, it just meant we had to go through the process again.
Our room appeared to be freshly refurbished and we thought it was tastefully done - brown seems to be trendy again but I wonder how soon it will appear dated ? Plenty of toiletries were provided, and there were cans of coke and bottled water in the small fridge, but you do have to pay for these. The only criticisms I had of our room were holes in the net curtain and an extremely noisy extractor fan in the bathroom which came on with the light so was hard to avoid.
We didn't try the restaurant for breakfast as we preferred to self-cater so I can't comment on this. The pool looked good but because of the weather. . . . . !!
All in all, it was a pleasant place to stay for a brief stopover.

We were pleasantly surprised by the room interior and cleanliness. There is a new management which went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They seem to going to great effort to upgrading the facilities and bringing the motel up to standard. We will go back in spring and stay another few nights and see what has happened.

We went to this hotel over APEC weekend, when we arrived we thought the room was okay, but definitely not four star, then we realised that despite the booking being for three of us, there were only two towels, cups and glasses. Each person only had one pillow for their bed, which led to a very bad couple of nights sleep. My son's sofa bed had a soiled blanket with holes in it.

We completed a form for breakfast the next morning, which we had been assured at the time of booking would be complimentary for two of us, with us paying for our son. When we went to breakfast the next day the owner said that he hadn't promised this and we would have to pay for the paultry breakfast provided.

When our room was serviced the tea, coffee etc. weren't replenished, neither was a form left for us for breakfast the next day, I assumed our booking from the first day was sufficient. When I enquired about breakfast the next morning I was informed that they couldn't accommodate us, despite the fact that it was their fault we hadn't received a form.

The owners attitude totally spoilt what could have been a great weekend, I will not be returning to this hotel.

We were a bit put off by the outside of this motor in but were very pleasantly surprised when we got inside.

We had booked a 2 bedroom deluxe apartment for one night. The apartment was a small duplex with living room and kitchen downstairs and 2 bedrooms and a spa bath upstairs.

The kitchen seemed well equipped although as we were only there overnight we didn't test it very much. The on site restaurant looked good but does not open on Monday nights so we couldn't test it out.

Good value for money.
