Me & Mum stopped over in Nelson Bay B&B in April 2012 while driving from Sydney to Brisbane.
The room was lovely - small and cosy with a very comfy bed and good shower facilities. It had an outside deck overlooking the bush behind the house and with windows open I had the best sleep in a long time - fresh air and sounds of the bush!
Trish and Iain were most helpful. The room had a well prepared and detailed info pack on what to do around town whether you arrived for a stopover or a longer stay. Moreover, Trish was happy to help with any kind of advice.
It really felt like staying with family - they do love and look after their place and guests!

My partner and I recently stayed at Nelson Bay Bed & Breakfast and had the joy of being in one of the spa rooms. Recently redecorated our room was very quaint, I especially loved the detail taken with the furnishings from the paintings to soft furnishings to ornaments. Every little detail has been considered. Its very close to the heart of the Bay but in your rooms you feel like you are set in seclusion of the bush. There were lace monitors who paid us a visit when we were sitting outside having our yummy breakfast and so many different types of birds. The bed gave us a great night sleep and I loved being able to make a cup of tea in my room - I ate all the cookies too ! Thanks Trish and Iain for a great weekend.. we will definitely be back !!

Room Tip: Definitely get a spa room if they are available

Positives
The B&B was a homely neat little place. The rooms are at the back of the two story house off a communal lounge/dinning/kitchen area. As we where booked into the room where building work was being carried out they upgraded us to the better room with the spa in the balcony. The B&B is about 15mins walk from the main high street an water front. A little up hill on the way back but not too bad.
Continental breakfast was good with thick home made bread, plenty of cerial and fruit that they keep in the fridge for latter if it doesnt get finished. I understand they also offer a hot alternative. There is also large range of tea and biscuits available whenever you like, just help yourself.
The lady was very knowageble of the local area and had plenty of information leaflets and information on the local area.
The room had an onsuite shower/toilet and a double bed.. The TV had FOX with all the sports/movie channels. Its quite new and modern with fittings etc..

The TV in the main communal space was not setup to work and there where still building work going on in the roon next door. The reception area was also still under construction.
The driveway was the steepest I have seen and had to give the car a bit of a run-up and that was in 4x wheel drive!
The B&B was on a road parallel to the main road that feeds into the main waterfront and the turn off can be easily missed.

Room Tip: Pick the Double room with the spa on the balcony.

We believed the reviews on Tripadvisor, and stayed at Nelson Bay B&B for a couple of nights. While the rooms are a tad economical with their space, this is made up for by a deck, which in our case let out on to bush: this was a real bonus. And Trish and Ian cannot be faulted. They are welcoming, friendly, and cannot do enough for you. We'd recommend it.

Wow this is a top spot. We stayed 2 nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. Everything about this Bed and Breakfast was perfect. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated and had everything you would need while travelling. Although the bathroom was a tad on the small side it was very user friendly. The enclosed verandah off our bedroom had a little sitting area and a 2 seater spa and was perfect. The guests lounge and kitchen area was spotless and had a top of the range Coffee machine which was available for the guests to use. There was so many coffees to choose from and the tea variety was many. We opted to have a cooked breakfast which was wonderful. I would recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone. Thankyou Trish and Iain for making us feel so welcome and for creating such a wonderful place to stay.

We stayed here two nights earlier this month. Had a great stay and Trish and Ian made us feel totally at home. We arrived late on a Friday with no problems at all and went out at 5am on the Sat morning for an excursion. We got back at 10am to a warm welcome and breakfast ready for whenever we wanted it! After brekkie (amazing toast!) Trish sat down and talked to us about the area and what to do. The B&B is a very gentle 10min stroll from Nelson Bay and the marina, and is just a short drive from other spots such as Shoal Bay. The only minor downside was that the room was a little on the small side. That said we'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others too!
