A great range of animals and bird life, they have a fury friends show and it features a baby wombat and echidna which you get to pat very cute. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
the knew adventure ropes course is great a wonderful experience unless of course you have a fear of heights

Visited the Shoalhaven Zoo and Adventure World late October 2013. It is located just a few kms from Nowra on the north bank of the Shoalhaven River. It has a good range of animals and the 'Furry friends' show was excellent, and featured a baby wombat and echidna, which were passed around the crowd to touch. The Zoo keepers were also available to take photos of visitors holding the wombat or echidna, for a relatively small cost. Photos also were available to be taken by the keepers in many other areas of the zoo, with marmosats, reptiles etc., All types of birds were free to roam around the Zoo, including peacocks, roosters, curlews and ducks. There were many shaded places to sit and have picnics and BBQs if you didn't want to buy food while at the zoo. The Adventure World looked like a lot of fun for all ages.. there is an extra charge for this, but not too expensive as a birthday gift. Most of the pathways throughout the zoo are shaded, making the walk around in summer very pleasant. All in all, it was a lovely day out, in a spectacular location. They do have a website if you want more information: http://shoalhavenzoo.com.au/

Our friends introduced us to this place. As you drive through the bush and down the steep incline you'll find a well established zoo tucked between the tall granite rock formations and the river. The birds have free run of the place similar to Birdland in Batemans Bay. They have a mix of exotic and native animals and their shows are very lively and entertaining. I didn't expect to see any crocs this far south. You can get up close and personal with most of the animals. What makes this place outstanding is the incredible adventure/high ropes course at the end of the zoo. Its still not well integrated into the facilities as I don't recall seeing much promotion at the ticket office. I hear it only opened recently. This makes things slightly inconvenient as you have to walk back to the office to purchase your tickets. I'm happy the staff there are to handle safety and not money. There is a waiver to sign which was followed by kitting out with safety gear and an introduction on how to progress along the course. Our six year old followed the instructor well and set off all by himself. Children with a fear of heights will experience major difficulty. The tickets for this attraction last two hours. More advanced courses are available for those 8 years and up. It is going to be a very popular attraction. We would happily return and try the more challenging courses.

On entry to this small and unassuming zoo, one might think they paid too much ($20 for an adult). However, they have one of the best collections of Australian animals I've ever seen, and the location is beautiful! You can get up close to all the animals for a good look, even the crocodiles! There is also a new high wire obstacle course for kids of all ages. Great place for a family day out, or to take friends from overseas.
