“Awesome on snow location.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

Our recent stay at the Marritz on Perisher far exceeded our expectations.

Location: AMAZING. You are literally staying on the slopes. A 100 metre walk to the lift from the front door. Amazing views from the hotel of the perfect surroundings.

Restaurant : Breakfast buffet is a combination of ordering hot food off the menu which ensures Freshness and the continental breakfast buffet which is good.
What is a clear stand out is the EXCELLENT dinner menu. WOW! Wasn't I surprised by the taste sensation and a great variety to choose from.

Amenities : Indoor heated pool with spectacular views of the slopes, looked lovely. I wish I would have taken my swimmers. Billiard room with TV, great space to chill in.

Bar : Whilst it looked a little outdated. The cosy log fire and the view made up for it. They had a wide variety of wines and also a great cocktail selection that was reasonably priced.

Staff : Very friendly and accommodating. We were made to feel very welcomed. Nothing was too difficult.

Kids room and kids club : Although we did not bring our kids this time. We certainly will be next year. The kids space is massive. Crafts, TV, games etc. Heaps to keep the kids occupied.

Rooms : Although a little outdated. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable.

We would certainly recommend the Marritz to anyone staying in Perisher.

If you stayed at the Marritz and didn't enjoy yourself then you must hate the snow.

The hotel was fine!

It had some cons:
Decor was old and tired
They make their bacon and egg rolls using Wonderwhite bread. It's sacrilege.
Pillows are uncomfortable - bring your own!

But some HUGE PROS!
We stayed in a deluxe room - it was awesome
You're right on the slopes

That's right, you're on the slopes!

The convenience of skiing all day and not having to worry about battling the hideous food court for lunch, using the public restrooms or carrying your exhausted self on the skitube home is priceless.

So how can you not be happy with it?

That said, I would be keen to try some similar lodges around Perisher to see which ones are the best.

Fantastic location, it was great to relax in the indoor heated pool after a day skiing. Three course meals in the restaurant were fantastic and the kids enjoyed the fun experience of kids club. All the staff were well trained and very attentive. The view of the fireworks from the Tower Suite was spectacular. It has set the standard for future ski holidays.

We have been skiing perisher for 30 years. Have been staying at the Marritz for years. This was the best year ever. Simone and Luke are great managers. Really friendly and helpful staff. Great food. Comfortable living areas. For us, we need a place that is going to make the before and after skiing experience easy (sometimes a challenge with tired kids). Stayed almost two weeks, felt like home. Thanks!!

The Marritz is a bit tired, but is going to have some maintenance and upgrade over the summer. That said, we really enjoyed staying here. The food was so good, the service was great - the staff were happy to help and very attentive. The location is great, short walk/ski to the Skitube and the Perisher snow.
Once it's been "done up", we'd stay again.

$94 for two with main, desert (big), 1 wine drink each, mugacino(big).
He had Trout, was super excellent with no bone playing. Two big pieces.
She had Ratatoulle stew, polenta and those yummy turnip chips -delicious
She really enjoyed the sweet mascarato wine. The sparkling semillion was a bit dry for me but very very bubbly bring an initial refreshing taste.
Shared the crumble and of course the super caramel sticky date pud.
The half strength mugacinos really filled us up.
We were very impressed by the sharp and quick , and correct service on a 60% full night during the last week of the ski season was amazing. 1.5% surcharge for AMEX. I was very full for a few hours, and it was close to our season's digs. Great 24th anniversary celebration.

Stayed at the Marritz in September 2013 and was pleased with the hotel. Rooms were quiet and the restaurant was pleasing, except a limited breakfast menu and "buffet".Conveniently located, just across the road from the main chairlift and a restaurant and mini supermarket.

The pool and sauna were ordinary and if many are using the pool, it becomes crowded easily. Would recommend to families with young kids due to the facilities (drawing room, TVs etc).

Room Tip: A room on the second floor may be less nosier.
