The location is magic but the building is very tired and extremely inadequate, in terms of accessibility especially for wheelchair bound guests and the less ambulant. I held a conference at this location in early November and when booking enquired as to wheelchair access and was assured that the hotel was wheelchair friendly. THIS IS NOT AT ALL a wheelchair friendly resort!

The breakfast room is located down 2 flights of stairs from the rooms with no suitable ramp or lift!! We had several of our attending families with wheelchairs and prams coming to breakfast it was a nightmare!

To the credit of the Manager on the day and the catering staff when I asked if our lunch could be served in the conference room rather than the restaurant (down more stairs) they organised it all with no fuss!!

The breakfast room itself was divided into two sections and a wedding was set up in half of it and the remaining room used for breakfast this was not at all appropriate for the numbers of guests wishing to have breakfast it was overcrowded and the number of staff to guests was also lacking. The food was lovely though and made up for all of that.

The lunch that was served in our conference room was delicious and plentiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our hotel room was spacious, with a balcony overlooking the beautiful waters of Port Stephens and Over to the twin heads of Tomaree and Yacaaba but was in need of renovation and some minor maintenance.

I will come back once the bulldozer and builder have been

Room Tip: the rooms on the top floor are a must especially on the weekends when there may be a wedding or othe...

Thank you for your review of the property following your recent conference. We acknowledge the property is in an envious location and am pleased you enjoyed the views and the catering during your stay and that we were able to meet your request for lunch service on the Saturday.

I understand this was a particularly busy weekend, hence the breakfast room set up for Saturday, however in the interests of a better visitor experience we will certainly review this in the future.

Again, many thanks for your review.

I recently stayed at this hotel on a Scoopon voucher deal with my boyfriend - it was a really good deal. It was $229 for two nights which included breakfast and a bottle of wine and two free drinks in the pub downstairs.
The other reviewers are correct - the hotel is very outdated and in desperate need of a complete makeover cosmetically.
It actually reminded me of the old Travelodge motels from the 70's.
However there were many good points as well. We stayed on the 5th floor which had fantastic views of the bay - the room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioner didn't work too well and we had one day there which was 38 degrees. The bowling club is directly across the road and the meals were great there. The pub downstairs was also good.
Breakfast was average - lots to choose from but it was not the greatest quality.
The staff were very courteous and always willing to assist.
Loved the spa in the bedroom - you could watch TV while you were in it. Lots of fun.
I would stay there again - but would hope it gets a facelift soon.

Stayed here a few months ago in a spa room with views over Nelson Bay. The hotel is fairly old and in need of an update but is good value for a hotel in Nelson Bay area. Room was quite large and had a spa bath and was presented in a good clean condition. Had dinner in the restaurant which was great and good value using your Accor card for 50% off.

We paid $179 for a room with a view of the bay. The view is obstructed by overgrown vegetation. The rooms are worn and outdated and the view out the window is also obstructed by screens that are nearly disintegrated. We had a very nice dinner at the restaurant in the hotel but service was extremely slow and inattentive. We returned to our room after dinner to shower and realized there were no towels. We were not able to reach reception by phone so had to walk to the desk...which was closed and had to ask restaurant staff to get us towels. Breakfast was included and the food was acceptable but the staff that greeted customers were too busy arguing about their shift duties to take care of us. This location has huge potential but needs quite a bit of work in both facility and service.

We were fortunate to be appointed a family room with spa on 4 th floor. Whilst the establishment is in need of more than a little TLC our room was spacious, bed comfortable, spa OK and the service impeccable. The view from the 4 th floor is straight down the waterway, we were able to observe the sun and full moon traversing a path in line with the waterway from our bed, superb. The room was clean although furnishings dated and some minor repairs required. However, these did not detract from our experience. A terrific value for money opportunity, we accessed a scoopon. I can appreciate and understand the perspective of those who gave this establishment a poor review, however, my wife and I had 2 lovely nights there. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, dinner in particular was excellent and reasonable value.
Whilst there is an air conditioner in the room we kept a window and sliding door to balcony open and a through breeze kept us cool. There was a sliding fly screen door to balcony. Not sure if encouraged but we took great joy from the flock of rosellas that made our balcony home.

Room Tip: Rooms on 4th or 5 th floor have best views. Our corner suite had expansive views.
