After travelling from Jindabyne on our way home from our ski trip, we were very tired when we arrived at Hathaway House. We were greeted by Helena who came out the front to meet us. We were shown our room ( Garden Room) which has a queen bed and two singles, perfect for our family of four. Helena had put on the little lamp in our room, which made it look very cosy and welcoming. Helena went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We left very early in the morning as planned, Helena had left out tea/coffee for us to take on our journey back to Brisbane. We would have no trouble at all recommending Hathaway House to anybody. Thank you Helena.

Spent the weekend at Hathaway B&B and highly recommend it. Dog friendly accommodation with a secure garden. Room withdoor to the outside (great for the dogs) as well as inside the rest of the house. Private bathroom. We used the lounge each night for drinks and nibbles and it was warm and cozy. Helena and Victor are very lovely and hospitable. Cup of tea and homemade biscuit on arrival. Tea/coffe/biscuits available anytime. Really lovely cooked breakfasts as well as porridge, cereals, fruits, yoghurts. Very clean and beautifully kept. Raymond Terrace is a gateway to so many areas such as historic Morpeth, Hunter Valley, Newcastle and Nelson Bay.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice. Choose the self-contained unit if you want to cook for yourself and/or have you...

Thank you M for your comments, and we trust you and CJ and Riley and Indy will return to Hathaway and enjoy some R & R in the future. As you mentioned Raymond Terrace is the gateway to many other areas of interest, so hopefully next time it will be pleasure rather than schedules and timetables. We wish you well in the future with your puppies.

Our stay at Hathaway B&B, for three nights, was in order to attend a family celebration in Raymond Terrace. Our hosts were considerate in every detail, for some special needs we have, and provided us with a most comfortable environment which enabled us to relax and regenerate. The meals were excellent and Helena and Victor made us feel very much "at home". We would certainly return to stay at "Hathaway" one day - if this is possible.

Room Tip: Jacaranda room

Hathaway Bed and Breakfast is clean discreet and off the highway, with no noise for those who require a peaceful sleep .
The property has a beautiful garden setting which is meticulously maintained.
Our hosts were friendly without being intrusive.
This B&B is within close walking distance to the Raymond Terrace shopping centre.
A great breakfast was provided.
We had only ever sped through Raymond Terrace previously and did not realise that it is an excellent base for visiting Port Stephens, the Hunter and Newcastle areas.
Hathaway Bed and Breakfast can be very favourably compared to the best of the English bed and breakfast establishments

Wonderful service, breakfasts were very nice and hosts were very attentive and helpful. We were staying in the family suite which we found a little small for 3 adults and a baby in a porta cot. We had our own bathroom which was compact also. Good location and close to shops and other services. I found the tariff a little more than I had expected. Overall a great weekend.

Thank you for your comments, and whilst we acknowledge, 3 adults and a porta cot can be a challenge in the Garden suite, we believe we made every effort to accommodate a group of friends who attended a wedding. The tariff was agreed to before hand, and a concession was made for your family. We trust this will clarify the situation.

We arrived at 2-55pm, having given our arrival time as 3pm, and were greeted by blank stares from owner's mother ( a lovely lady ) as the owner was next door doing " High Tea " Our room was nice but the wardrobe had been locked and there was very little space above the tea making facilities to hang our clothes ( 4 coathangers are not enough! ) We were told to leave by the screen door and lock it behind us which we did and headed for the beach.
When we returned we could not get the door to unlock. The lovely mother phoned her daughter who said that she would return from her own daughters after she had her dinner! ( about an hour! ) My wife was in a wet swimsuit but this did not seem to matter. She suggested that we go to the bowling club accross the road for a drink and this is what we had to do as she refused to come back to the b&b to help us. The bowling club is very good by the way, but not in a wet swimsuit! We did not receive an apology, on the contrary I think she was annoyed at tyhe inconvenience we caused. The owner said that when she returned the door was unlocked and the lovely mother said that she unlocked it. I am an engineer and my wife is a teacher and we spent probably ten minutes trying to unlock it, so I took that with a pinch of salt !

In response to your comments, we feel we need to clarify some of the issues raised. The original booking request came through a booking agency for a Double Room. Upon arrival, the guests were upgraded to a Queen Room with side access to a courtyard. It was suggested, that the external door can be left open, and the screen door locked to enjoy the summer breezes throughout the night. The guests departed for the afternoon, having locked the internal door, and left the keys inside, and locked the screen door from the outside. Upon receiving the telephone call for assistance, the owners left their dinner date within 15 mins, but had to travel 40 mins to return to the B & B and found, that the 92yr Mother had in fact managed to open the screen door.
It is unfortunate that the guests failed to admit that they had been offered cheese & crackers, and a glass of wine, and were invited into the Family Room to wait the arrival of the owners,
and even more so, these guests stayed at Hathaway FREE OF CHARGE.
