We spent two nights at the Candlelight Lodge as part of our five week tour around southeastern Australia. Our primary reason for being in the area was to hike up "Mt. Kozie" and enjoy the mountain area in general. We booked the Candlelight based on other good reviews and we were not disappointed!

We stayed in room 5. We had a very nice view of the mountains across the valley and a nice little spot to sit on the balcony outside our room (yes, it is shared by all the rooms on that level but we didn't see any other guests so it felt very private). The kitchenette area was bigger than most and while still 'under the counter', the fridge was ample and could hold plenty of food if you didn't want to eat out all the time. Parking can be an issue if you don't like to walk up and down hills as there are only a couple of spaces right at the Lodge, but this is true for almost all the facilities in Thredbo. It is a typical alpine ski resort in that respect. The owners were very nice and gave us good advice on best places to eat for what we were craving. Wi-Fi worked flawlessly and we were fortunate to have great weather for our trek to Mount Kosciuszko.

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs, our room probably had the least with a only partial flight down and a partial flight up from the main entrance, so consider that when booking.

We will always cherish our Easter Weekend at Candlelight Lodge. A stunning weekend weatherwise was further enhanced by thevwarm welcome we got from our hosts Alison and Andrew. The property is ideally located - very central and close to all amenities. The view from our room was stunning. Our room was spacious and clean. Our visit was out of the main ski season so we were not able to avail of the restaurantvand bar facilities - but would loved to have as the are cosyband inviting. Our continental breakfast was beautiful - just what the doctor ordered for heading off on our walks and golfing. Would highly recommed staying at Candlelight Lodge.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room - views are stunning.

Manager Alison made us very welcome at this lodge, where all the rooms have a balcony view over the slopes. We thought it was excellent value, even if much other Thredbo accommodation is more modern than this 60s Tyrolean style building. Our room 6 was adequate - our travelling companions had a bit more space in Room 7.

We stayed two nights, room 6, at the Candlelight Lodge. Nice views of the mountains and ski area.
The room was quite small with nice refurbished bathroom. The original lodge was built in the late fifties; it reminded us of our holidays in Austria (style and atmosphere).
The hosts were very nice and helpful.
In Summer the restaurant of the lodge is closed for dinner. The continental breakfast was included in the rate and was quite nice.
Thredbo is by far the most tourist-friendly of the Alpine villages. In Summer it is very quiet and several restaurants are closed.
