“Weekend Get Away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

My husband and I chose the Times House Inn, in Jim Thorpe, for a weekend away. Right from my first email Diane was wonderful to work with . I tend to ask a lot of questions and Diane patiently answered every one. We chose to stay in the "Overlook Room" . It was very spacious. It had a very comfortable sleigh bed and a sweet dining table set up beside a window. We were on the third floor and looked out over the town. The table was set with blue willow china and there was quite a variety of homemade sweets ( apple cake and cranberry muffins the first day and lemon cakes and scones on the second day). In addition there was fresh fruit and in our mini fridge there was juice, water, yogurt and fruit cups. Our host and hostess were attentive,, friendly and helpful . The room was spotless. The bathroom was located outside of the room, down a couple steps and a very short hall. The bathroom was for our use only and lovely robes were also provided to add to our comfort. The Inn is located within walking distance of everything. You should be prepared to go up steps. Staying with Diane and Chris was just what we had hoped for. We rode the Lehigh valley Gorge Trail 15 miles, attended a concert at the Mauch Chunk opera House, toured the Asa Packer Mansion, and ate at three different restaurants in town, and never had to drive anywhere. We definitely recommend The Times House.

Room Tip: Chris did show us some of the other rooms. They are each unique and special in their own way. I do...

Chris and Diane run a great B&B in Jim Thorpe. There are several different rooms, each with a different character and different amenities to meet your needs. The rooms were impeccably clean and had nice breakfast goodies to snack on or save for the morning meal. I felt as though I could engage with the attractions of Jim Thorpe or relax and enjoy the room itself for a bit of rest and recovery. I would definitely stay here any time I'm back in PA.

I stayed here over the mother's day weekend with my adult daughter. It was our first visit to Jim Thorpe. We stayed in the Serenity room at Times House and had an absolutely lovely stay. Not as formal (aka uncomfortable) as Bed-and-Breakfasts can sometimes seem. The hosts were casual and easy going and made me feel extremely comfortable (told us to txt them if we needed anything, gave us great suggestions to visit around town, blessed us with baked goods, and then left us to our devices. Appreciated that!). The scones, muffins, and cakes were absolutely delicious and we packed them as snacks for our various adventures during the day. Our room was very clean - and the whirlpool tub was quite clean as beautifully inviting well! The Inn provides parking - which was a huge plus when the little town got hopping with visitors during the day. My daughter and I had an accident in the room when we opened a bottle of wine that had apparently gone bad and developed pressure (which created a small spray when we opened it). We called our hosts in to show them the problem and they were extremely forgiving and understanding. I would absolutely stay here again! One consideration I would recommend when choosing a room: Our room had a lovely private bath, but the other room on our floor (the Overlook) had private access to a bathroom outside their room. The rooms are situated in a way that the Overlook guests walk in front of the Serenity suite to use their bathroom which involves much door opening and closing. Maybe talk to the owners about this and let them help you choose the best room for your stay and your weekend plans. The Overlook guests on our weekend were very up-and-at-'em-extremely-early kinda folk - and we were looking to sleep. That didn't jive too well. Overall - beautiful, comfortable, charming, and welcoming.

Room Tip: Talk to the innkeepers about which room is best for your stay and your intentions for the weekend...

My wife and I stayed here last October and wanted to see the area in the spring as well. Once again, The Times House provided the perfect place to stay. Wonderful, huge room, great baked good, great location. If we visit Jim Thorpe again, we'll definitely make The Times House our home base.

We visited Jim Thorpe for our 25th anniversary.
We were delighted with fresh flowers, chocolate dipped strawberries, wine, AND champagne!
Our room was always provided with fresh baked items which were wonderful.
We went to a concert at Penn's Peak--a fun mountain top venue.
We were also able to go horseback riding on a beautiful day.
We enjoyed the restaurants and shopping in town.
We would recommend Times House to everyone!

My wife and I needed to get out of the city for the weekend, and the Times House was exactly what we were looking for. Diane and Chris were wonderful hosts, greeting us at the door even with a late check in on Friday night at 10 PM. When we arrived in our room, we were greeted with an extremely comfortable bed, peace and quiet, and a well-stocked fridge and snacks.

Over the course of the weekend, we enjoyed the quiet comfort of our room and the surrounding area. It was nice to just walk around the town, and we even ran into Diane and Chris at a nearby store. Everything in the room was immaculately clean and it was just what we were looking for that weekend. We hope to be back!

Just visited Jim Thorpe for the first time. Our hosts at The Times House insisted on giving us their cell phone number in case we needed help with directions or advise on restaurants, etc.
Our third floor room was roomy and very welcoming with luxury sheets and towels as well as fresh baked goods. The Times House added to our great experiences in Jim Thorpe. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Can't pick a bad room, they are all great.
