This is not a gourmet 5 star restaurant in Philly but for Jim Thorpe it deserves the 5 stars. First, it is very reasonable priced for the quality and quantity. We had a chicken parm, very good and large for $14 and an eggplant parm which was even better for $11. The special pasta stuffed with fig was great and the mussels were a good size, cooked to perfection. The service was attentive without being overbearing. This is a very spacious, modern, and clean restaurant well managed. The owner obviously cares.

Thank kod

Wonderful, authentic Italian cooking. A welcome relief from the many pizza and cheesesteak restaurants in the Poconos!

5/23/2014... We ate here again last night to celebrate my wife's birthday... and we couldn't have made a better choice!!! We haven't been here in 6 months, and i have to tell ya, "they knocked it outta the park" again!!! You know the phrase "Vote with your Wallet," Well, it must of been election day!!! The place was packed... It was a friday night and we had a reservation for 7pm, and thank God we did... These folks are always friendly... and why wouldn't they be, they cook great food, they're successful, they've got it down!!!

Again, you've gotta hand it to these folks, they've created a truly wonderful ambience in the restaurant... Just the right balance of casual and elegant... That may sound easy, but so many restaurants around here can't even get the lighting right... it's a beautiful spot, right at the top of the mountain, neatly tucked into the forest...

So since it was a special occasion, we started out with a bottle of our favorite wine... The Rodney Strong "Alexander Valley" Cabernet... If you drink cabernet, you know this wine... Almost impossible to find in restaurants around this neck of the woods... They charge $47 for a bottle, but hey, it's $26 at the store... This "single vineyard" wine would be $80 in a Philly / NYC restaurant... Our waitress, Loretta, who by the way was just amazing, brought these incredible fresh baked rolls, and a bottle of rosemary & garlic infused oil to the table, i swear it was EVOO... WOW... life is good!!!

One of things i love about this place is that "they change-up the menu!!!" So last night we had an outstanding new appetizer, "fig & porcini mushroom sachettii..." This was amazing... delicate little hand crafted pasta purses stuffed with fresh fig & mushroom and baked in a light, creamy cheese sauce... OMG!!! Just go there for this dish, you'll be blown away!!! It was served in a classic little french ramekin, like you'd serve creme brûlée in, but it was more then enough for two, and get this... it was only $6.50...

We don't get here often, so special day or not, my wife always gets the "Chicken Francese" when we come to this place... It's her favorite dish, and she says they make it better then anywhere she ever eats, and her job takes her all over the world... So for $13.95, they serve an incredible presentation of lightly battered, thinly pounded chicken breasts, in the most amazing white wine, lemon butter sauce with a side of penne pasta with freshly diced garlic, olive oil & fresh basil... they really understand how these small touches make a such a big difference!!!

I had something wonderful & new off the menu; The Calamari Bellissimo... a plentiful assortment of tender sliced fresh calamari and baby squid in a classic mediterranean red sauce with capers and black olives, served over a bed of linguini... They serve this for only $14.95!!! I don't know how they do it... but all i can say is wow!!!

So for all you "big-city critics" out there, i ask you; where can you go to get this kind of dining experience... a phenomenal setting, tucked away in the middle of the forest... a charming & casual ambience just short of a fairytale, an outstanding bottle of hard to find cabernet, hand crafted international styled appetizers, hot fresh baked rolls right from the oven, and truly amazing & delicious entrees... and all this for $82... we gave our waitress 20% for truly great service and still walked out of there for under $100...

There's only one thing left to say... Thank you for making this such a special night for us... and yes, of course, we'll be back!!!

We live a few miles away from Trattoria and it is one of our favorite places to go for a wonderful meal at a decent price. Everything is fantastic from their elegant pasta dishes to their pizza. I highly recommend it! I recommend reservations on the weekends- if fills up quickly!
