“Ride the Lehigh Gorge Trail!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2013

Pocono Biking was an excellent transporter. We rented bikes--in excellent shape. (Or you can bring your own). Friendly employees. 45 minute shuttle ride (to White Haven). You will pedal all the way, and the surface is gravel, but it's not too difficult a ride. If you want to stop for photos, you might want to do the early shuttle. The most scenic spots were early (waterfalls) and late (railroad tressles, photo ops). With summer foliage, the river was barely visible during much of the ride, although there are several stops where you can hike down the hill to the river bank. Take water and lunch. We had a threat of rain, and did have a 10-minute stretch of hard drizzle; there is no place for shelter except the canopy. Next time we're coming during rhododendron season.

“A family day of Biking and Swimming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2013 via mobile

We rented bikes for a half day of biking and swimming. They shuttled us and the bikes for a 15 mile bike ride. Bus ride took about 25 minutes. (A 25 mile trip is also available) Our family has a wide range of bike skills from experienced to little experience. The trail was perfect, flat and mostly a slight downhill. We packed a lunch, lots of water in our back packs and wore bathing suits. There are picnic tables along the route as well as lots of scenic locations for pictures. The entire trip the Lehigh river is on your left with the occasional waterfall on your right. We stopped at the first swimming spot around mile marker 114. We ate and swam, the swimming area is very rocky, water shoes would have been helpful for the kids. Then back on the bikes to finish the remainder of the course right back to the shop at Jim Thorpe. Everyone had a great time and no one on the trip complained about the 15 mile bike ride being too difficult. Bikes were great Trek mountain bikes. The trip took us about 4 hours at a leisurely pace, including a 1 hour stop to eat and swim. Staff was excellent and helpful. Family of 5 was around $250.

“All Day Fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2013

My husband and I rented bikes at the location in White Haven ay the start of the trail along the Lehigh River. The location was difficult to find because they have no real address there and are located in the back of a small plaza. We found it after asking several locals and turning into the plaza to ask directions at the. Rite Aid drug store. The Trek bikes were great and provided a comfortable ride. We rode 11 miles slightly downhill through partly shaded woods. We could see the river through some trees. There were some benches and picnic tables along the way.
We took a leisurely ride which an hour and a half. We passed a waterfall where you could get wet and cool off. Because it was during the week there was only one shuttle from Rockport at 5 pm, so we had to bike back uphill. It is only a 2% grade, but after 11miles a child or novice would be quite tired! We should have just gone on farther downhill where more shuttle times were available. The entire trail is 60 miles long. The young man at the office in White Haven was great. He was polite and veracity helpful with tips. It is a wonderful experience not to be missed! We spent about 3 to 3 1/2 hours and it cost about $60.00 for the two of us.

Bring more than enough water for the day! There isn't anywhere to get some until Rockport which also has bathrooms.

“Another Good Experience at PB”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

Have used this place before and always had a good experience. I did the 25 mile Lehigh Gorge Trail and it was a fantastic day and the people at Pocono Biking were friendly, organized, and very informative. Their bikes are well maintained or you can use your own. I can 't say enough about Lehigh Gorge, you can stop and eat a packed lunch along the way, there are waterfalls and overlooks for plenty of photo ops, and Pocono Biking will explain that before your trip.

“Great trail, organized outfitter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2013 via mobile

The Lehigh Gorge Trail is a real gem. Very scenic and historic. It's pancake flat, actually an imperctible downhill. It follows the Lehigh river very closely and has many places worth stopping to take pictures. Be sure to do the full 25 miles, the best part of the trail is the first 10 miles. Bring plenty of water and snacks there are no towns along the way. This outfitter has it down to a science, they have facilities at both ends and are both knowledgeable and accommodating. You can park across the street and train tracks in Jim Thorpe and take their shuttle up to White Haven to begin your adventure. Plan on an extra ten bucks to pay for parking, it's just the way it is. However you'll end your trip in that parking lot. It couldn't be easier. The town of Jim Thorpe is pretty cool. Some fancy restaurants mixed with some reasonably priced pubs makes it accessible for all budgets. The town has a unique vibe and embraces the outdoor person and the shopper/tourist alike. If you'll need overnight accommodation on a weekend book well in advance.
