“Comfortable lodging in quaint historic town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed at 55 Broadway in a two bedroom suite. It was nicely furnished, very clean, had 2 bedrooms and no common area, both bedrooms had tvs, unit had fridge and microwave. Bedrooms had window air conditioning units ( rather loud). This was a super location in the middle of town.

My wife and I just returned from a very nice stay in Jim Thorpe PA. The Inn At Jim Thorpe should be right on the top of your list to stay in this Quaint town. The package for less than $300 midweek. Gave us a decent room on the second floor but with no outside view worth mentioning. The inn has four floors and has a elevator. The hallways are filled with historical prints and photos of the area. The front desk people were excellent and check in went well. Our package entitled us to two breakfast vouchers each worth seven dollars and one dinner voucher worth $30 each. Also two wine glasses in place of mugs with the Jim Thorpe logo on them. We also got two voucher for drinks at the bar or at lunch or dinner, oh did I forget the two chocolate chip cookies. Eighty dollars worth of food and drinks. Except for one slow service at breakfast, all other meals were fine. To show you the value of the dinner vouchers we ordered an appetizer, two entrees with sides, two beers and the bill was are you sitting down,Ten Cents!. Everybody had a good laugh and of course we left a nice tip for excellent service. This place is not a B&B but a over forty room inn so no free breakfast here. The iron railings on the first and second floors look like the French Quarter in New Orleans and you can sit outside and eat a meal or have a drink or just sit and read a book. The town has many eating places I strongly advise going to Moya's on Race Street, closed on Wednesday great food and service but somewhat pricey. There are many things to do in Jim Thorpe, shopping outdoor activities like biking on a closed trail and hiking and river trips. Two or three days is just right and the place to begin is staying at the Inn At Jim Thorpe. Better you go towards the end of the week as many stores have odd hours and playhouses seem to only be open on the weekends. Take the package and have a great time.

Room Tip: Front rooms look out over the main street. Third or fourth floor. Rooms on one side face parking lot...

We stayed at the Inn so we could bike the beautiful 25 mile ride down the Lehigh Gorge. No longer spring chickens, we wanted a nice place to relax before and after. I was attracted initially to the Inn's New Orleans style balcony on the 2nd floor, and we were not disappointed! Had a nice glass of wine out there (we brought it)...you don't need to book a room with a private balcony, just use the public balcony. Back to bikes..there is a secure shed if you bring your own. If you book the shuttle through the hotel, the departure is right across the street (although the other isn't far either). The hotel is very convenient. Just park your car and don't move it, you'll lose your space - but you don't need it either.

We stayed in Room 210, an upgrade with a fridge. We wanted a fridge for drinks for our ride, and we ended up with leftovers from dinner in the Inn's restaurant, so it came in handy. At first the room seemed very dark, but when the lights were on it was fine and pretty large. Since the window wasn't in the sleeping area it was actually excellent for a good night's rest, very little light. Bring your book light, if you are readers like us.

Many people have activities on Saturday and Sunday mornings, such as the biking shuttle or kayaking or rafting down the Lehigh River, so the breakfast scene was crowded and people have to leave on time for their activity. Make sure you make a reservation. They give you a voucher for $7 per person, one for each day. You can't use both on the same day.

Despite a family reunion of 40 and another group of 17 in this small property, we didn't hear a thing at night or in the mornings. I'm still surprised about this.

There is a good homemade ice cream shop about 1-2 blocks away, Annie's, so pass by the others. Annies closes early though! 8:00 on Saturday night and Friday 6:00 PM. Most things do close early in this town, it's unusual that way. Take the Asa Packer Mansion tour while you are in Jim Thorpe, it's very interesting and explains the town. The church is also worth going into after the Mansion tour.

We had a really nice fun weekend in JT, there's not a ton of stuff to do but those we did are very good.

Room Tip: Room 210 was dark so good for sleeping. Balcony was very close, so we used it several times. AC wa...

Nice downtown location with the balcony you can hang out on.
Check in was smooth.
Room was nice and clean and up to date.
The restaurant had a wide choice of burgers (elk, bison & wild boar).
Would definitely come back again.

We originally were booked in the Inn's guest house up the road as they had no availability when we originally made our reservations. But when we arrived, there was a room available, which we took. We couldn't have been happier. The staff was friendly and helpful and the accommodations were first-rate. Guests are provided $7 vouchers for breakfast in the attached restaurant, which actually covers most of the bill. Jim Thorpe is a charming town with many attractions, great restaurants and opportunities for outdoor activities. I would definitely recommend the Inn for a weekend getaway or special occasion.

Great little town. The Inn is in a perfect spot for this walkable town. I would suggest to drop off the check in person, (or 10 min parking in front), and go to the driveway on left to get a spot, if nothing available, they have a lot at 55 Broadway, just a few doors down on other side of street,so free parking is not an issue.
We had a suite on third foor which overlooked the street.Very quiet, enjoyed looking at the older buildings. Whirlpool in room, 2 TV's, frig, microwave, coffee maker, ice on lower level. Beds and pillow a little too soft for me (but I like super firm)This Inn is very quiet, clean, gives you a B&B feeling. Central to everything in the area. Broadway restaurant is thru the lobby doors. See my restaurant review seperately. Great Service, we really enjoyed everything. Will be back.

Wonderful hotel in a quaint but bustling town. Rooms were spacious and comfortable many with a great view of the main street. The second floor balcony was a real treat. The food in the dining room was excellent and the bar had great character. Close to all of the main attractions in the Town. Excellent place for biking with a secure storage shed in the back of the hotel.

The only drawback was the train whistle, which sometimes went off later in the evening or first thing in the morning, but by the third day, we pretty much ignored it.

Room Tip: A room on the second floor is close to the New Orleans Style balcony overlooking the main street. R...
