We have just stayed for 2 nights and this is definitely a resort rather than a motel in my view. The location and views are unbeatable, and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, more like a small apartment. We especially appreciated the kitchen with full size fridge as we like to travel with food and drinks. We slept so well on both nights, the bed was very comfy, and there is absolutely no road noise when you are in the room. Also the block out curtains keep it dark in the morning if you want to sleep in. It is a just a short distance to town by car, but the walk along the riverfront is lovely and only takes about 10-15 mins. We had a ground floor room with direct access from the verandah on to the lawn and about 20 steps to the water. The barbecue facilities, tables and chairs etc. which are set up around the grounds are excellent and you wouldn't find any better at a high priced resort. It was lovely to get fresh towels on our second morning, which I wasn't expecting. The staff are friendly, the price is a bargain, so all in all it deserves its No. 1 ranking for sure. We are already planning a return visit.

Room Tip: We like ground floor with direct access to the lawn, barbecue area, and water. All rooms face the w...

This motel had been highly recommended to us by fellow travellers and we were not disappointed!! We arrived without a booking and were given the opportunity to view the room prior to checking in. A large room with kitchen facilities and lounge area, with a welcoming balcony overlooking the water. Husband straight out onto the jetty to throw line in!! Small incident in the bathroom and the manager was straight down to repair immediately. The customer service and helpfulness of the managers was impeccable in conjunction with their local knowledge of the area! Definitely will stay again!

An unfortunate name for a small motel (no more than 24 rooms) situated on the Clarence River about 1 km from Yamba centre each room having a wonderful outlook. Our room, on the ground floor, had a small terrace with steps leading to a huge, shared grass area down to the river. The motel was opened late 70's and rooms are a little dated but huge. We call it a motel because breakfast can be ordered for room delivery but has no restaurant.
Next door is a cooperative fish cafe and opposite is a Chinese restaurant and a cafe serving the best coffee. The centre of Yamba (which we loved) is a short drive. Apparently parking can be a problem in high season but we had no such problems.
So if you are looking for a quiet, huge room with a kitchen and all self catering facilities, with a fabulous view just out side Yamba choose Mobi Dick. It deserves a better name!

We saw this property on the way in to the delightful town of Yamba but thought we would try a few other places first. Lucky for us we drove back and asked to take a look at one of the rooms. What a lovely place this property is. A real gem. The location is absolutely perfect and the view was unbeatable. The whole resort was a delight, including the staff. If ever we were visiting again I would not hesitate to stay here.

Spectacular views, clean spacious and self contained units, superb outdoor facilities (gardens, outdoor seating, outdoor cooking/entertaining), this resort would be hard to beat. A very easy 1.5kms walk to the centre of town via a shared cycle/footpath and past the Marina. Similarly 1.5km to the Yamba Fair shopping mall.
Highly recommended.

Although we have stayed in Yamba numerous times this was our first time at Moby Dick. We had a downstairs room which I personally preferred over an upstairs room. Large spacious rooms, sturdy comfortable beds and lounge with medium round table for dining (4 chairs). Full size fridge, two hot plate top stove, combined oven and grill plus microwave. After booking in we returned to our car for baggage and one of the owners came and helped take our bags to our room. Showed us every thing in room, plus terrace private balcony with steps down to grassed area just meters from water. There is a small jetty from which we saw several people fishing, and if no one on jetty then it was commandeered by pelicans. There are open Air BBQ's and also one under cover with great protected outlook.
Within 200 meters there is the Fishermen's Co-op ( fresh and cooked seafood right off the trawler, and over the road a nice Chinese Restaurant that was busy every night. We also had a Dolphin come in close (about five meters from seawall, and a large Ray that came right up to seawall and popped it's head out several times to have a look at us.Only sorry didn't have acamera or cell phone on me. Would recommend this to others, and will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: try and get a downstairs room as there is easy access to graased area, BBQ's. Swimming Pool is a...

Only stayed one night as part of a coach trip but would have dearly loved to have stayed more. The staff and managers were all so friendly and helpful and you could not wish for a better location. We had a ground floor room that led onto a large grassed area with stunning water views, bbq's, outdoor furniture, and outdoor room with more bbq's and even a fish cleaning area for those lucky enough to catch a fish. Everywhere was clean and well maintained as was our well equipped room which was spacious and comfortable. I we are ever around Yamba way again, we will definitely be calling into the Moby Dick.
