“Great Ride for a Fantastic View & Free For Seniors”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

My GPS had great problems finding this location, but it is well signed from the main road, IF you are on the right side of the dual carriageway. Having located it, the ride was great AND if you are a Senior Citizen (proof required) your ride is FREE. The view from the top is excellent with good viewing platforms. If you are more adventurous you can take your car up with you and tour the hill.

“You can take your car on it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

The view from the top is spectacular! You (and your car, if you'd like) can make the journey to the bottom every 15 minutes. There's a small gift shop on the top where you can purchase tickets and souvenirs. There's also a small room with maps and images of Johnstown to explain some of the history. On the outdoor observation deck there's a explanation of the how the flood waters entered the town and decimated it.

At the bottom of the incline, if you go to the left (standing at the bottom looking up) there's a door with a sign (I now forget what it reads, exactly), but if you go through it, through a small little room, and out the back you end up under the incline. That alone is pretty awesome, but you can follow the trail to the right less than half a mile to get to an abandoned mine shaft (wear sensible shoes, no flip-flops or heels here). The shaft itself was entirely unremarkable, but there are pieces of art along the way and some signs with historical information. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to explore this, but if you were there and had some extra time it could be fun. You can also take the trail to the left, and as it was explained to me this is a fairly popular trail to run on.

Arrived to find the inline had broken the night before (during Thunder in the Valley). The gentlemen in the office was very helpful and they were running a shuttle to the top. We chose to drive up. Neat windy road. Neighborhood at the top is interesting!! Be sure to visit Asiagos restaurant at the top! Excellent!!! Beautiful scenery of the whole valley!!! Will definitely return!!! Take the time to visit !!!

“Always a nice stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

On a sunny day, a pleasant ride and way to start a walk. If one has never ridden an inclined plane - a must stop in Johnstown. Kids will love it.

“Interesting history lesson and cheap entertainment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Lots of history to take in, for $4 round trip. You can even take your car up and down if you would like. Amazing views from the top.
