A good experience in a hotel begins with first impressions. Excellent ambiance begins with the front lobby & the hospitality of the staff and ultimately the condition of the room you are staying in. The visit began on the right foot with a pleasant lobby, the decor was tastefully done & the theme was carried up to the front desk. As expected we were politely greeted by the person behind the front desk & unfortunately the experience went downhill from that point on. We were nickle & dimed for parking, & yes we paid a $5 fee per vehicle & of course the parking had no attendant & no card or ticket or license plate to monitor who goes in & out. In our eyes this was a cash grab. We complained & the front desk had a poor excuse that they were in the process of setting things up, yup! Our room was dated, stain filled (carpet, walls, tile, chairs & seats) & our window view overlooked the rusted central heating & ventilation of the hotel. The air quality in the room wasn't good either. I have no allergies yet I kept coughing & sneezing all night & of course when I left the room in the morning it magically disappeared. At breakfast the kids complained they were restless & woke up with dry throats. The double beds were uncomfortable & lumpy as well. Our brief encounters with the staff sealed the deal that this hotel was a poor choice. We encountered housekeeping on several occasions in the hallways, no eye contact, no greeting, no smile, no pleasantries initiated or reciprocated. The chap who bused the tables & cleared the hallways from room-service leftovers was the only bright light. In the elevator he greeted us, initiated conversation, was hospitable & very pleasant. At breakfast our server was polite, however, her body language & scowl on her face said otherwise. At check-out the front desk had no smile, did not ask or inquire about our stay & was only concerned with how we would pay for our parking. No good bye & have a nice day either. In short: Keep away!
