“Well maintained and well put gardens”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

After over 12-13 years, I revisited the gardens with a dear friend who had never been here before. The gardens are definitely more well maintained and well put together. I loved the orchids sections and different colors and set up. The conservatory was beautiful. You have to wear good walking shoes as you can get a great cardio workout my taking a few laps.

At the end, we visited the Dupont Residence and went through the informative documentary on his life and how he set the foundation of the gardens. It was great to read and hear a brilliant chemistry major from MIT set the foundation of the gardens and have a passion for horticulture.

At the end of the day, we bought a few plants and herbs from the local horticulture center. The gift shop is cute and has some nice pieces of plants as well as souvenirs.

The onsite fine dining restaurant is highly recommended. Execllent choice of food but very slow service. It took us approximately over 30-45 mins to get our dinner. Otherwise, a real pleasant experience through and through. Friday and Saturday are late evenings. The gardens are opened till 10pm EST. Buying tickets ahead of time is recommended. You can bring the ticket on your PDA device vs. carrying a paper print out or ticket. It's convenient. Thank God, they are using modern day and age technology.

Took my family as we drove from Baltimore. It was well worth the trip to see the beauty of the flowers, plants and trees. Will go again. Oh, they have an awesome treehouse!

“Fascinating Garden Displays”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

The beautiful Longwood Gardens are a must see if you enjoy seeing and understanding good traditional garden designs. This journey will excite the senses. My wife and I spent a full day in the glorious glass house, surrounding acres of lawns and splashes of colour and sound from the flowers and fountains.

“Meticulously Maintained Gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

This was my first visit to LG and it did not disappoint! The variety of shrubs, trees and flowers provided ongoing textures and colors . Loved the incorporation of water throughout the gardens. The Italian Water Garden with it's ever changing fountains.took me back to Italy!
Wide walking trails made for easy strolling or faster walking. We ate in the Cafe where we found a variety of moderate priced lunch options.
Will definitely return with a goal of visiting seasonally to fully capture the beauty of the gardens!

“Spend the Day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

For the past 25 years I have travelled from New York to Longwood Gardens and spent the whole day at Longwood Gardens. Anytime is a good time to visit the gardens, but Spring is especially nice - tulips, daffodils, wisteria, the Hillside Garden, and so much more. It is a walking garden, but there are wide paved paths for those with disabilities. All the gardens are meticulously maintained. If there's time during your visit Winterthur Gardens is only about 20 minutes away.
The area has many attractions so plan to spend a weekend.
