Roamers' Retreat Campground
Reviewed 29 March 2014

We were seasonal for about 5 yrs , until the new owners increased the seasonal rate $1500.00 a year.We asked when the new owners took over if they were increasing the seasonal rates because we had just built a beutiful deck on our camper, and we were told they wouldn't be raising the rate this year. Two weeks after we returned home we received the notice that they were raising the seasonal rate $1500.00 a year.Wow!!! We understand they want fair market value but before they increased the rate to what other camp grounds are getting they should at least offer what the other camp grounds have. We did our home work and found a really nice campground that offers a basketball court , horseshoe pit, two swimming pools, laundry room, miniature golf, volley ball, softball field, fully stocked camp store, for the same price Roamers is now getting ! We could understand raising the seasonal price maybe $500.00 for the season but all they did was bring the campground back to what it was like when we first started camping there 5 yrs ago. There's nothing new accept for the 50 amp service. .Most of the seasonal campers besides myself have left but we keep in touch. And that's my opinion, good luck Roamer's Retreat. .

We have been spending Late Spring and Summer at Roamers Retreat for many years now.
This has been the best season to date! This quiet park has perked up and returned to it's original beauty, and we hear there will be many new upgrades for us to look forward to next season when we're back.
The new owners are just what this place needed. Very Friendly and Dana has always indulged us, happy to look at all our new family photo's whenever we saw her.
And we shared many fun cups of coffee with Lois over the summer.
We cant wait to come back and see what the place looks like in May, and to have the yummy desserts the Amish girls bring by.
We love this great little campground, and my wife really loves the shopping near by!

Room Tip: The best sites for scenery are overlooking the Amish farm.

Staff was very nice, the campground is quiet and well maintained and not that far from Lancaster Shopping and Kettle Village in Intercourse. The 50 amp sites are large, level and nice and grassy.
We will definitely stay here again

Very helpful staff well laid out sites. This is a scenic location with well maintained sites and plush grass areas around each site.We arrived early and they worked with us to get a site we wanted. This is our second stay and we will come back.

The people are nice here, I had a level spot and enjoyed my stay. Every Friday, the local Amish people come through the park and knock on your door. They sell wonderful treats like cookies, pies, fresh farm eggs and more. I would stay here again.

was here at the cabin for 2 nights and will keep coming back few times a year, its a place for couples and families, and elderly, its nice, quiet, relaxing, there are really beautiful walking paths through the farms and also a little in the woods type of path, for little kids there are swings and a built boat type where you can go inside, really great place

We stayed one night in the cabins. One other group we were staying with rented the 8 person cabin, while our group stayed in the 6 person. Both cabins were similar in layout (the 8 person had an extra "living room" while the 6 person did not). Both were very clean and new with everything you'd need (utensils, applicances, etc) We liked how each of the rooms in the cabins had doors that could close for privacy. I was pleasantly surprised that each cabin had cable tv. The sites are pretty close together, but since we were staying as 2 groups, it worked for us. Also, the kids playground is directly in front of the 8 person cabin. This might not work for some, but again, this was great for us since we had small kids and could basically grill, cookout, etc .without them wandering too far. There is also a big field where the kids could run, play ball, etc. If you are looking for a campground out in the wilderness/woods somewhere, this probably isn't the place for you...but it worked for us. Also, the campground is off a busy road, so the road noise could be undesireable (depending on the site you are at). But the cabins were far enough away and under the trees where it wasn't a problem. We would definitley go back next year.
