“Great place with a great theme”
Reviewed 5 May 2013 via mobile

We were surprised to find that the hotel we booked actually looks like an old steamboat from the outside. The lighting and all the extras to create the steamboat look on the outside are fantastic. Matched very nicely with the decor inside the hotel. The choice of wallpaper and fixtures throughout have an authentic steamboat feel. Very cool hotel. Spent time in the bar area as well and found a few of the nicest people working in the bar. Had a few drinks and quite a few good laughs as well. Very nice staff overall. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others. Very convenient location as well!!

This is my first time staying in a hotel that was not a chain (for example: Best Western, Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites) and when my wife and I stayed last week, we could not have been happier. The Fulton Steamboat Inn was spotless and beautifully decorated. They have an exceptional staff, that makes you feel at home. Some of the main features of this hotel are a indoor heated pool with jacuzzi, playground for children, restaurant and bar, they also offer coffee in the morning and delicious cookies and lemonade in the afternoon. The standard rooms were beautiful with two queen beds, 32" flat screen tv's, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and double sinks, other more elaborate rooms were available. This hotel is located in a central location to all of the major attractions in Lancaster County, for example The Strasburg Rail Road (a must for all), two theatrical theaters, two outlet malls, The National Toy Train Museum, The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Dutch Wonderland, Hershey Park (30 minuets from the hotel) and so much more. I would recommend this hotel for anyone with a family or a couple on a romantic getaway. This is our new hotel to stay at when we visit Lancaster.

This place is the best of the best!

The Hotel: You pull up to this great looking hotel on the outside. You can tell from the inside that the place has a long history - but it has been well taken care of. The place is super clean. It is the type of place you can walk barefoot and not feel dirty. They have plates of the best warm cookies and lemonade I have ever had waiting for you at check in. Free coffee in the morning. It terrific. There is a pool, but I did not have time to partake - maybe next time. There will be a next time.

The Staff: You cant walk past an employee without being acknowledged. It was really great. I got about ten good mornings before I reached the restaurant.

The Restaurant: We had breakfast only. It was great. My wife had sticky buns made at a nearby home. The coffee was amazing - but I think it had to do with the cream. It made the coffee very smooth and delicious.

The location: Half mile down from the SIght & Sound theater, across the street from good outlets, around the corner from the Amish Home tour, and in a neighborhood with a bunch of good eating places. It is a bit far from Shady Maple, but nobody is perfect.

Room Tip: Just book it! This place is excellent.

Our recent stay there was quite the pleasant experience. The check in was quick and friendly. The room was clean and offered many welcomed amenities. I went with the family and they really enjoyed the property. We went and fed the ducks, played on the playground, picked out a goldfish to keep us company in the room, swam in their heated pool and made smores by the fire pit.

I can whole heartedly recommend this hotel as one of the nicest I have ever stayed at.

Room Tip: The kids loved the bunk beds so request one if traveling with the family.

The location of the Steamboat Inn is scary being situated on the corner of Rt. 30 and 896 and across the street from the Rockvale Outlet Mall. Surprisingly it is quiet and the view from the room was of Amish farms. What a delightful surprise! The interior was so recently renovate that the carpeting in the hallway still had the new carpet smell. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good also. I really enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the south side (away from Rt. 30) of the inn but I imagine even the rooms on the o...

i've done many reviews in this hotel it still has not changed over the years. still the best place to stay since it opened way back when. room is very clean and well stocked. has refrigerator and microwave.pool and hottub area always clean, bright and comfortable even in those winter months. its near everything. has a fire pit to hang out by the pond at nights. theres plenty of ducks and baby ones to feed. a nice size play ground for the kids.everyone so nice and constantly asking if room is ok or if your having any problems. so dont be afraid to say so if something not qiut right or need help getting around. has a computer room if need also! no reason this place should not be sold out every night.

Room Tip: stay on 3rd florr (adults only) or stay further away from pool for the most quiet areas

The Fulton Steamboat is probably the most obvious of the Lancaster area theme hotels, and it's not surprising that my kids wanted to stay there as soon as they saw it. The hotel sits in a great location for many area attractions, and we found it to be a fairly good value by comparison to other area hotels.

The hotel staff was very friendly - check in was easy and fast, and when we extended our stay for an additional night, the desk clerk made a few clicks on the computer and handed us our re-programmed keys with a smile. Similarly, the restaurant staff was very attentive and remembered us each time we visited. I also thought that the follow up email after our stay was a nice touch.

Our room was on the smallish end, but the steamboat theme was well played. At some point, the hotel decided to seal off the outside access to what appears to be a long balcony on the upper floors, but given the outside space around the pond and the playground, we likely would not have used the balcony anyway. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size. The whole room was very clean and remarkably quiet given the proximity to the very busy road in front of the hotel.
Given the number of things to do in the area, we didn't have that much time to spend in the pool, though I have to say that the pool area is somewhat small and on the first night, it was quite busy. Like the rest of the hotel, it is quite clean and the kids really enjoyed it.

The hotel's playground was a surprising hit for my kids, and it is quite large. It is a great place to run off some energy after a day of touring, and the pond area around it is also very pleasant. In the summer, the hotel has a fire pit area near the pond, which looked fun, though it wasn't in use during our stay. There is a great mini-golf course across the street as well.

Throughout the hotel and the grounds, period music plays perpetually, but at a soft enough volume so as to be ambient but not annoying. The steamboat theme seems odd for the location, but in the end they do a great job carrying it through.
