“Peaceful Elegance”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

For being in town, we never heard traffic and slept great! The beds are very comfortable and you get two choices of pillow thickness. Locked entrances are a comfort and off-street parking is appreciated. The innkeepers are gracious and very helpful in providing info. about the area. We enjoyed seeing miniature horses nearby where small kids got horseback and wagon rides at an Amish farm. Breakfasts were healthy like oatmeal pancakes one morning with fresh fruit. A small kitchen makes snacks and beverages available at any time. There are plenty of movies to view if staying in during the evening. Getting a massage onsite was another treat. Being dog lovers, we also enjoyed Sampson!

Room Tip: The Duke room King makes into twin beds and is the only room that has its bathroom across the hall...

We stayed here at the conclusion of a two week vacation to the east coast. We really enjoyed our stay. Our innkeepers made us feel very welcome; they even arranged for us to dine in the home of an Amish family. (The meal was delicious; it featured corn, potatoes, tomatoes, peaches, and strawberries from their garden.) The breakfasts were excellent; food tasted good and was well presented.

The innkeepers have great recommendations to share, and they even provide detailed directions to any of the places they recommend. Their dog is very friendly.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Majestic suite. I had read that some travelers found this room noisy. It is downs...

Felt like home. Just had a wonderfully comfortable and romantic ambience. Immaculately clean and cared for. Food was great. But most of all, the innkeepers were warm and extremely helpful and caring. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This being our third stay in B & B's, King's Cottage exceeds the others. It is a beautifully maintained Inn with much to offer and the Inn Keepers, Janis and Ann, are tremendous people, very professional, yet warm and very friendly. It is first-class in cleanliness and comfort. We enjoyed an outstanding breakfast and tourist information provided was so helpful.

Room Tip: Go for the Princess Room!

The King's Cottage was referred by a friend, (Carmen, of "Carmen and David's Creamery"), who's been living in Lancaster since 1985. It looked really good on the website, but I was "WOW'D!" when I actually checked in. The place is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and "homey". Over the years, Carmen has referred many people to King's Cottage but had never been inside. I invited her to have breakfast with me, and the very gracious innkeepers, Ann and Janis were happy to accomodate her. She was also "WOW'D!" They served a delicious gourmet breakfast made from locally grown foods, produce and meats. Their Orange Muffins are to die for and Ann was glad to share the recipe with me. Their china, silver and crystal table settings are beautiful and very classy. I felt like royalty.
I bonded with Sampson, the Cottage mascot and the most adorable Bichon Frise in America! If I left my bedroom door open he would just come in and make himself comfortable. I definitely plan to visit Lancaster again and will surely return to the King's Cottage! It's like a home away from home.

We stay in B&B's all the time. This is one of the best! The breakfast offerings are outstanding and everything is done very professionally. The Inn Keepers, Janis and Ann, could not have been more helpful on every aspect of our trip to Lancaster .... They even planned our day trips to include routes and coupons! We stayed in the Majestic Chamber. I highly recommend that room, as well. Great place to stay.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the King's Cottage with a dear friend. We could not have been happier with our hosts or our weekend. Janis and Ann are what everyone wishes their bed and breakfast hosts would be like. Your first time there is like a return visit to see old friends. Everything is beautifully arranged and inviting. It was so quiet we were amazed at breakfast on Saturday to see all the tables filled with guests who all seemed to be enjoying the selections as much as we were. Crystal, fine china and cloth napkins - not the typical Saturday at home! And then we were off on adventure armed with great suggestions from Ann and Janis. We were having so much fun in the galleries and shops in downtown Lancaster that we forgot all about coming back for tea. Guess we'll have to go back again!

Room Tip: We chose the Duke Room because the bed can be arranged as two singles. The window faces a quiet side...

Thank you for your review. There is so much to see in do in this town in addition to the Amish culture! We are glad you enjoyed downtown Lancaster's arts scene , our breakfasts & table settings! We enjoy being able to spoil our guests in the morning! We look forward to seeing you again.
