“Family Friendly and Close to Sesame Place!”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

Courtyard by Marriott is a wonderful hotel to take your family to if you are visiting the Philly area or Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA! We were a family of five and fit into the regular room. Just as a note, breakfast is included if you buy a package(Sesame Place Package), but not included with the regular room rate. The breakfast is made to order and delicious! Also, the lobby is roomy and beautiful! We loved it.

We got this hotel through an opaque booking site. The staff were friendly on the phone and when we arrived and were able to accommodate our needs. The room we got (2 queen beds) was clean and spacious and worked for our family. The mattresses were on the firm side, but not hard as a rock, so I did not experience back pain. The sheets were really soft. The lobby had this hip, trendy look that seems to be the latest rage with Courtyard hotels, but it was comfortable. The computers in the lobby were a nice convenience, but were sometimes slow. There is free coffee in the lobby.

We didn't get to try the food in the hotel as we met some friends for dinner and went for a nearby bakery we liked (Fritz's, next to the Sheraton down the street) to get some breakfast. Prices seemed average for a hotel. If you need to go shopping, there is a mall nearby, and a CVS north on Oxford Valley (across Rte. 1, on the left). Note that if you are arriving from Route 1 northbound you have to cut across a few lanes of Oxford Valley Road pretty quickly to get to the left turn you need for the hotel. On the positive side the hotel is easy to see from Oxford Valley Rd.

We did have a couple of annoyances that weren't really the hotel's fault. The alarm clock is not really obvious or user-friendly on how to set (or turn off), so it went off in the middle of the night and we had a hard time figuring out how to turn the thing off. Finally, I set the thing for 10 AM which quieted it down. The TV channel listing in the room manual is completely wrong. The hotel needs to update it. We did hear some loud noises in the hallway around midnight, which fortunately did not persist. I would encourage the hotel to build in a second point of egress from the parking lot and mark it as an exit to reduce confusion (as it is only marked "Entrance" right now). Our room had a balcony, but it is easy for little kids to open the sliding glass door to get to it. I would say this is a bit of a safety issue.

Overall, though, we had a great stay and would come back here.

Room Tip: Rooms are king with sofabed or 2 queens. No bad choices here. Better than those hotels that persis...

Dear RonRon,
Thank you for your recommendation and some really great feedback about our hotel and the area. We will review your concerns with our team and get updated channel listing and make sure that all of our room attendants are always making sure that the alarm clocks are in the "off" position when a new guest checks in. (No one likes an unexpected early wake up call).
We hope to see you again at our hotel.

The hotel is very new and very family friendly. Free shuttle to Sesame Place excellent. Staff service was amazing. Breakfast was very good. We bought the package that included the free breakfast which I highly recommend. The seating area is very nice, with individual TV at certain round table booths. Perfect for families with young children. Very close to the highway and close to restaurants and malls in Langhorne. Highly recommend it!

I prefer residence inn. Rooms are nicer and they provide free breakfast!. But Residence Inn was sold out when I visited. Having said that, my stay here was satisfactory. Nothing luxurious but clean and what you'd expect for a 3 star hotel. I stayed here back in July and there was just one lady at the front desk. She was very friendly and nice. At the pool, towels were frequently not available and I had to go ask someone to bring towel. Someone brought towels promptly and courteous but perhaps only 5 towels at a time. The pool is small. Staffs were all very friendly regardless. Mot much to complain about nor do I have any raving reviews to write about.

Dear mckaster,
Thank you for your review. There are many benefits of being part of the Marriott family. Each brand is a bit different and catered towards different guest preferences. We always hope that you have a favorite or two but encourage guets to try us all.
Our Bistro concept and the ability to offer variety for breakfast along with Starbucks offerings and a great dining option at night are essential to the hotel. I can understand your disappointment if you are looking for complimentary breakfast. We do offer a stay for breakfast package that includes breakfast for only $10 more for 2 adults and 2 children in room. This is a great deal!
We hope that you will consider us again for future trips and will be happy to ahve you as our guest when the Residence Inn is not available.
Warm regards,
Lori Simpson

This hotel was friendly, clean and convenient to Sesame Place, everything we were looking for. The free shuttle every thirty minutes to Sesame Place was helpful and the drivers were friendly. The rooms were large and well appointed, including the king suite which was ideal for us to gather as a family. We would stay again if visiting the area.

This really was one of, if not THE best hotel I have ever stayed in. We were there for 4 days and I could have taken up permanent residence there. The rates were expensive, but since we had a group discount (high school reunion!) and split it 3-ways, it wasn't prohibitive. Everything was very clean. Friendliest and most helpful and kind staff in the world (thank you Amanda!) including housekeeping (who do a fantastic job), desk staff (kind as can be) restaurant team (courteous service, though of course a free continental breakfast or at least complimentary coffee in the lobby would be nice..there were coffee-makers in the rooms. We had most of our meals out..plenty of less expensive dining nearby), groundskeepers (just beautiful all around the hotel) maintenance (everything in perfect condition). I just can't say enough about everyone there who works so hard to make this a pleasant place away from home to stay.

Room Tip: We had the 2 queen and one pull out sofa room which was spacious enough for my 2 sisters and me. The...

My family had a pleasant stay for 1 night in August. We had a king suite on the first floor. The suite was huge and beautiful and the layout was great for parents with 2 small kids. Everything in the hotel was clean and new. The breakfast buffet was just what we needed to start the day. The shuttle was convenient and on-time, and the drivers were very friendly. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not use the swimming pool, but we did see it and it seemed pretty small and basic. I believe it would do the trick in a pinch for our kids if it was rainy at Sesame Place, but was nothing special. Minor suggestions for improvement: The bistro was shockingly lacking in children's options, given the location near Sesame Place. I believe they said they were working on that. In the meantime, we took our dinner business elsewhere, to the Chili's up the street. It was good we had our car with us because it would be nearly impossible from this location to walk elsewhere for a meal. We were surprised to unfold the sofa bed and find it was not made up and that there were no sheets provided for it. Luckily, however, Housekeeping brought them promptly when we called. Overall, a very satisfactory trip.

Room Tip: The king suite was very spacious and was a great option for our family of 4.

Dear SaraB,
Thank you for the great review and recommendation! Our spacious suites are a favorite option for families visiting Sesame Place.
There are many dining options nearby. We are just off major roadway so walking to the restaurants is not recommended. There are several delivery options as well if you do not wish to venture out.
We hope to see you again.
Warm regards,
Lori
