“Cool tour”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 via mobile

This is a great tour for the family to see what a real underground coal mine looked like back in the day. It starts off on a train ride down into the mine and then it's a walking tour from there. Be sure to pack a light jacket as the temps are around 50, it is damp down there. Also wear proper footwear, leave the flip flops at home. There is a pavilion and picnic tables to eat lunch.

“Worth a look if your in the area”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Coal mine tour was interesting. You see how coal is mined, and the conditions that the earlier miners worked under. Bring a coat as it's about 55 F and pretty drippy.

“There is a gem in the coal mine in Lansford”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

We travel as a family of six, three teenage adults and a twelve year old son. Sometimes it is hard to find places to entertain such a variety of people, but in Lansford who knew they had a cool "Coal" mine. We were searching for a place to break up a drive from the poconos to our next destination at Lewisberry. We found this online and we were all gald we did. It is a informative tour with a ride on a coal train to start and finish. You will need to bring cash and a jacket! There is also about an hour of walking, but some very cool stuff to see including a hospital underground! I suggest you check out this mine if your in the area for ten bucks a person it was well worth the time.

“Great trip”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

They do not take credit cards, cash only. MUST bring a coat, 60 minutes underground.
My grandfather was a coal miner so my kids got a history lesson. Children ranged from 6-15 and each enjoyed it. You do some walking on the tour underground. It was extremely educational and interesting for all. Our tour guide did a great job giving us historical details of life as a miner and conditions. They are a not for profit organization so your money goes to improve the mine and preservation.

“Fabuloso!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

This was the highlight of the trip! Definitely worth going here. Amazing experience, learnt a lot about the coal miner's work ethics and history... a very well preserved coal mine converted to a museum. Our tour guide was simply superb... the right amount of humour and extremely informative. One suggestion - do arrive half an hour early to the museum (before your scheduled tour)... there are a lot of artifacts to see.
