“Authentic and Relaxing”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

The House is beautifully restored and is well lit with natural light and has lovely and unique trim throughout. The furnishings are warm and comfortable. The Inn is "in Town" and is very walkable. .Launa and Jim are wonderful hosts who are native to the area. We only had time for a short visit but it was a memorable experience regardless. What struck me from the moment we arrived was just how much we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the Chestnut inn.

Recently stayed a night at this charming b&b that turned out to be a real treat. The service was second to none, while the house is stunning, especially if you like older unique homes and antiques. Why would anyone consider staying at a hotel when you could stay here for the same price. Close enough to penn state, but a fraction of what you would pay anywhere close to state college.

Room Tip: Floral room had 12 foot ceilings, wonderful bed, with a sitting area.

We are very glad to hear you had a wonderful experience at Chestnut Manor. Thank you for appreciating that we do not double or triple our rates for local college events or community events. Jim and I enjoy meeting our guests from all over the country and hope you have an opportunity to return.

What a beautiful place to stay, we had a wonderful time visiting with our family. Jim and Launa were so kind to invite my mother-in-law to come have breakfast with us one morning, and it was delicious! They are very sweet and we enjoyed getting to know them. Hope to make it back soon.

We stayed at the Chestnut Manor for a wedding that was in the area. This place was beautiful and Jim was an excellent host. He treated us just like family. This place was a mansion in the 1800's. Jim told us all about the history of the house and gave us a tour. The breakfast was great he cooked to order what we wanted a made separate things for the boys. I would recommend this place to everybody. We will definitely be back!

Wonderfully maintained and beautifully restored in the 19th century Manor House tradition - not to mention the comfort and hospitality of the hosts Jim And Luana. They accommodated our need for early check in and attended to our every need. The atmosphere is relaxed and the location is convenient to the highway yet in a quiet part of town. Penn State campus is only 20 minutes away (without game traffic).

We stayed at Chestnut Manor after the Penn State/Michigan game. All rooms were filled with Michigan fans- and we are Penn State fans. The guests were so lovely and we enjoyed having breakfast with them.
Jim and Launa are such generous hosts. They showed us all around the property and made sure we were comfortable. The B&B is just gorgeous! It is an old mansion from 1877. Every room is meticulously decorated. Jim and Launa keep it perfectly clean and it feels like we are their family- and we hadn't ever met them before the weekend! They spent time talking with us and telling us how they came to buy the property and what it means to them.
We are definitely staying with them again! We LOVE it there! We have traveled all over the country and I can promise you- you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful!
