We chose the Carter Run B&B as a base for a few days in Lititz (we visited for the Wolf Sanctuary) and had the run of the house for the 2 nights we stayed there!!!
Built in 1865, the home is a typical old PA house. No phone, no internet, no TV - what were we going to do?! Yes, we talked to each other & read.
Spotless accommodations, hot bath, huge comfy bed (I needed to take a jump to get up into it!) BUT thank God for one modcon - the washing machine
Nothing like waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of rain (we hadnt heard rain for years so my husband was confused as to what the noise was till I told him it was rain!) and seeing glorious autumn foliage everywhere (another thing we dont get where we come from in Australia!).
We were served a delicious apple cake (streusel??) for breakfast. Later, I had a good chat with owner, Mick (we met his lovely wife Ruth just before we left), learning about the area we were in, the Amish & other PA facts. Whilst I was chatting, hubby in the B&B was thrilled to see a Mennonite Horse & Buggy ride past the window.
All in all, a relaxing stay!
