“A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2010

We have dined at Bunha Faun many times and have found the food to be excellent on each and every occasion. The restaurant is housed in a long-defunct Dairy Queen on Route 30 near Malvern. The decor is a bit tired and worn, both inside and outside, but the tables are always set very pleasantly. The appetizer of choice is Fried Oysters, and it remains one of our top three appetizers of all time. The entree, Rainbow Trout, is not far behind the Fried Oysters and is another 5-star choice. Desserts are good, but not spectacular. Noise level is good also, perhaps because the clientele tends to be older, probably a result of the restaurant's proximity to Hershey's Mill, an over-55 community whose residents like to get dolled up and eat out. A wonderful dining experience, in any case.

“The best crispy duck my husband ever had was served at charming Bhuna Faun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2009

Our daughter and future son-in-law moved to Malvern in May. They spotted this unassuming restaurant by the side of the road on which they commute, and suggested that they, and all four of their parents in Malvern on a visit, go there for dinner on recent Saturday evening. There were several people, but it was not crowded. Tablecloths and flowers contibuted to the charming atmosphere.

Out of the six of us, we ordered three items from the menu. The three (food connaisseur) guys ordered crispy duck, two of us (food connaisseur) ladies ordered veal, and I ordered shrimp in a sauce. My husband said that it was the best crispy duck he had ever had. Of the two sauces available, my husband chose orange sauce. The duck was crispy under the sauce, and the meat was tender. I found the shrimp dish delicous, and the others very much enjoyed their veal. We were pleased that all six of us were delighted with the meals! As we will be visiting periodically in the area, we look forward to going out to this restaurant in the future, and can recommend it unconditionally. It has just been a little hard to remember its unusual name: Bhuna Faun, but we got that down pat by now.

“An unexpected little jewel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2008

My husband I just came back from Bunha Faun. It's a Wednesday night and we were the only people in the place at 6:30 which is a shame because the food was excellent. Their music is classical and very pleasant to listen to. The server was being trained but he was already very competent and seemed very professional. He did his job unobtrusively but the food was served with a pleasant attitude and he disappeared when we didn't need him.

My husband had the cream of mushroom soup and said it was one of the best he'd ever had. He lived in New York for two years and ate out five nights a week so he has a good handle on food. He had the veal, pronounced it excellent and I had a special - shrimp and scallops with artichokes and mushrooms. Very, very good. We split a creme brulee (a little too warm but still very good). the bread was a little too warm but was still good.

We were sad to see that we were the only people in the place when the food and the service were so good. I know they have
quite a few restaurants competing against them but we've decided that for the value, the atmosphere and the food, we will
go back again and soon!

“Great Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2005

This little restaurant can fool you. From the street it does not look fancy. When inside you find a tastefully decorated candlelit welcoming place.
On our last visit we found the menu as posted on the web. However they have several specials every day, often fresh seafood. It is BYOB and most diners do.
A reservation is needed because it is popular.
It is well worth a try.
