“Poconos Palace Resort - Fantasy Apple”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

Spent the weekend of March 21, 2014 at the Fantasy Apple. Great room overlooking the the lake. I think later in the year might make it even better. We're going to try for later in April next year. It was a super relaxing getaway. Really a great weekend. Food was good. Staff was wonderful. Coming home relaxed as we did...priceless :-) There were some chips out of the paint around the pool so probably could use a bit of updating. Also I thought the pool could have been a bit warmer and when we mentioned it at the front desk they called to have it turned up. I'd recommend this room and resort. The pool with BBQ was outside the room also so I would imagine that would be a great Summer getaway for sure.

Room Tip: I had also stayed in the Roman Towers. Really enjoyed the Lake view with this one and it's chea...

This place is wonderful. They have a man mad small lake with sand and lounge chairs. The grounds are small but pretty. Service is wonderful. Room are a bit dated but clean.
The food is above average and the activities are fun.
If your looking for a quick getaway and some fun , with alone time come here you will not be disappointed.
Close to the casino and shopping a good value. Especially at night entrainment is awesome

Room Tip: Go for the garden eaten of pale room. It's a nice break

We were able to get one of the Roman Towers Suites… only offered at Pocono Palace, and the best suite ($$$) of all 3 resorts. The room is gigantic… its two stories (technically 4 levels) has its own heart-shaped pool, sauna, massage table (with heat lamp), large living room with a fireplace, sofa, and Tv. The master bedroom was incredible, equipped with a King sized round blush bed, celestial ceiling (with stars scattered about), flatscreen mounted TV, and built-in stereo system. The bathroom is large, with his and her sinks, separate room for the toilet, and nice sized shower. Finally, the centerpiece of the room is a 12 foot tall champagne glass jacuzzi (intense), which actually ended up being quite comfortable. It made for an incredible little getaway with my little lady, for it truly was a getaway- we often did not need to leave the room. This room truly was incredible. We asked to see the other rooms (which in the pictures looked very nice) and nothing comes even close. The Champagne Towers (which is supposed to be very similar to ours, yet smaller and less equipped) had the ambiance of a bowling alley, along with the rest of the rooms… which felt worn out, dated, and unkept… so do not be fooled by the fancy, well-taken pictures on the website, the only suite that holds true is The Roman Towers. Pocono Palace has roughly a dozen Roman Towers Suites, so if you decide to pick Pocono Palace for a little getaway, The Roman Towers is the only suite to choose (and it will probably be one of the best suites you will ever stay in). Furthermore, the other two resorts do not have the Roman Towers suite, so I highly recommend Pocono Palace over Cove Haven and Paradise Stream.

In a word, the food could be better. As mentioned earlier, the resort is all-inclusive, yet does not include alcohol or lunch (there are several cafes serving lunch, yet it is simply meager fast food). For breakfast, you have the choice of breakfast in the main hall, or receiving breakfast in bed (which we opted for each morning) which is limited to egg sandwiches, cereal, coffee, and juice, it was delicious… but hardly resort-like. For Dinner, they offer a three course choose your own adventure meal… the general choice breakdown goes as follows: 1st course… Soup or Salad (though you can choose both at no extra charge), 2nd course… meat, fish, or pasta entrée, 3rd course… dessert of the day or a large sundae bar (or both). Choosing the right entrée is a difficult task, there is usually one moderately good one, while the other two taste like they came out of a diner. It became a game for me and my loved one, to see who could pick the entrée that wasn’t horrible. The interesting thing here is that this is in fact all-inclusive… so one could order all 3 if they really wanted to (yet that would be both embarrassing and a waste of food). The sundae bar was large and in charge, in that ‘Old Country Buffet’ kind of way… which I saw other couples intensely indulging in… I’d probably have trouble feeling sexy after that sundae bar excursion. I wasn’t expecting the food to be marvelous, it is an all-inclusive resort in the middle of border-line hick Pennsylvania… and it did seem like they were really trying (they put edible orchids on our wilted salad). Yet the average-ish food felt like it was a part of the experience (somehow) and didn’t turn us off really at all.

What I find to be the most interesting about this place, with of all its campy love tactics, truly made me focus constantly on my loved one. The place almost laughs at itself with its up-front corny lovey-ness, but at the end of the day, it is all about reminding you that if your loved one is next to you… there is no reason why you shouldn’t have your arm around her, whispering “I love you” in her ear. I guarantee there is no place quite like this one- of course there are many couples only resorts… but none as shameless, proud, and determined to keep its 30 year long running reputation of being ‘The Land of Love’.

Room Tip: Roman Towers suite is exponentially better than the others... no comparison

We could only spend one night, so we chose the Champagne Tower room. It was fantastic. I highly recommend it. The four course dinner and buffet breakfast were excellent. The outside facade of the buildings and wall paper in the rooms do need some updating, but the room had fresh paint and carpet. I loved the star lights in the ceiling.

The room is a little humid because of the pool, but we turned on the a/c and we were fine. There is a light near that Sauna Room that did not have a switch, so it does not turn off at night. Surprisingly, it did not bother us, but you might consider unscrewing it for the night if you want the room pitch black.

Overall, we had a great experience.

Room Tip: Champagne Rooms are worth the money. Fireplace, pool, sauna, massage bed, hot tub, steam shower, and...

We have been going to The Poconos for many years for a weekend getaway. We especially enjoy Pocono Palace because they offer so many activities for couples to have fun, be silly, and "de-stress", while re-connecting as a couple! And, we really appreciate that everything is within walking distance on their grounds, so we can relax and have a cocktail or two, without ever having to drive anywhere until we check-out :) The staff really works hard, and are soooooo friendly, plus the included breakfast buffets and dinners are tasty. The dining room overlooks their lake, and their grounds are great for a romantic walk.
The only thing I would recommend to the owners, is that they do more updating to the rooms, because they are very, very dated. We noticed that they have started to make some improvements like new carpets, new flat-screen tv's, etc. but they need to do more. *Please know that updating the rooms is literally the only advice I could possibly give to improve, because everything else at Pocono Palace is great...I simply don't know of anywhere else that offers spacious rooms with private pools in your room, or a giant champagne glass tub, in a relaxing "couples-only" environment, and all within a few hours of scenic drive in the mountains :). Thanks to all at Pocono Palace...We have NEVER had a bad time, and will keep coming back!

this place is great. don't let the bad reviews fool you. if you are a picky person who looks at every little crack in the foundation of a hotel or the outdated wallpaper, then just go away. sure, the carpeting in the room should probably be redone, but other than that, this place is great. the food at the dinner was excellent. it was a choice of 4 meals.. .a steak, a chicken, pasta or seafood. my husband had the steak and i had the chicken and both were great. we loved our private pool in the room and hanging out in the arcade room after dinner was a great escape from the normal b.s. we deal with everyday. i've been having such a hard time the last few weeks and coming here was a perfect getaway from the stress of everyday life. i'm sad that we're checking out tomorrow. and if you read the post from a person who talked about avoiding room 309, don't worry about it. that's the exact room we were given and it's perfectly fine... unless you're sooo focused on a little thing like carpeting. but so far this place is aces. from checking in, to the wait staff at dinner and the great bartender in the lounge, everything has been awesome!! we totally plan on coming back soon, and can't wait to tell all our friends!!

Room Tip: bring your own booze to hang out in your room with.. bring your own firewood logs... and bring your...

Best getaway ever!!!!! Always something to do, great food and the Champagne Tower room was immaculate! The only small gripe I have is the night life on site. We stayed the weekend and left Tuesday. They had nice entertainment on sat-sun and a dj with karaoke on a monday night? I would have liked a dj/karaoke on a Saturday or friday. People like to dance together on Saturday nights. Thats the only small gripe. Put dj's with a good mix of today and yesterday music so everyone can dance.
