If you are a beach lover or surfer this is the place for you. Literally right on the beach with a very narrow lane separating this accommodation from the sea. Very cute and well equipped, the hosts are very welcoming. I spent my one morning there sitting on the veranda watching the surfers and dolphins playing in the waves-bliss. However if you are a light sleeper the sound of the surf may keep you awake. Not a problem for me but my other half had a few problems dropping off.

Room Tip: As you are this close you would want a sea view but this is such a twee place I cannot be sure that...

Perhaps it was the time of year and the self catering, but we have never felt less welcomed at a guesthouse. Not unwelcome, but not welcomed. Being there for the surf, which was perfect, that does not matter so much, but worth mentioning. We loved the house, it's history and decoration, the views and proximity to the water, etc fresh linens and instant coffees and teas were left for us as well as cleaning service each day. All in all a good stay but the countless rules posted everywhere are clearly for a different type of guest than we are accustomed to.

We stayed a couple of nights and used our very spacious apartment as a base for walks in the surrounding area. The place was clean, comfortable and Chanel was a welcoming host. Our bed was by the window and it was great to wake up and just see the sea with surfers already out there in action. It's right at the other end of the promenade from the beach, so it was quiet.

This is wonderfully located guesthouse. You are literally 10m from the surf take off point on the point break. The rooms are spacious, clean and well stocked with reading material and board games. The cleaning ladies are delightfully friendly and the owner Rod is a jovial chap who welcomed us. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and we recommend the ocean view rooms. Imagine sitting on the balcony after a surf watching the remaining surfers whilst downing a chilled vindhoek. Doesnt get any better than that. Our fav place is South Africa other than the kruger.

Stayed here one night on a tour of the Cape. We did make the mistake of staying on a Sunday when it seems that the entire population of nearby towns comes to the beach at Victoria Bay. It is a very small beach with a grassed area and it was completely covered with people. The one advantage of Lands End is that you are the furthest building from the beach so away from most of the crowds. We had the Oceans room which was lovely and has an amazing sea view (you are virtually right on top of the sea). However, the lack of a shower was a bit of a disappointment - there is only a bath with a shower attachment. For one night this was sufficient. Nicely stocked kitchen, although we ate in the beach restaurant which serves burgers/pizzas etc and was very nice. The fridge was stocked with wine, beers etc but there was no price list and as we were leaving very early the next morning we just left some money on the counter.

We stayed at Lands End for two nights on the way back from Grahamstown and Addo. Rod and Chanel are awesome hosts- accommodating our every request. The self catering units are well equipped, including those little things you always forget like serviettes and roller towels. The surf is right outside the front door- you can watch the early surfers from bed if you like! Shopping is easy at the Garden Route Mall for supplies. We'll definitely be back.

The four of us (two couples) arrived without a booking but were quickly settled into two lovely self contained rooms with private balconies and breathtaking views of the ocean. Both rooms were spacious, tastefully decorated and had everything one could possibly need - including a supply of local wines at a reasonable price. Our host Shanell was friendly and efficient and we only wish we could have stayed longer than one night. We forgot to thank her for the freshly baked muffins in the morning so if she's reading this, they were delicious!
We liked best - the location and ambience
We liked least - nothing
