We made Easter Reservations based on their on-line menu which shows the price to be $35.95 per person plus tax and service charges. The $71.90 base price turned into $91.46 when we were given our receipt upon checking in. No breakdown was given, but 6% tax would have made the bill $76.12 which means the service charge was $15.34 or 21.3% for us to serve ourselves at the buffet. Our complaints fell on deaf ears as the manager's explanation was they had been doing it this way for years. We asked for a refund and went elsewhere. Considering we could have made reservations at numerous places for less money, we were taken aback by the exorbitant service charge. I can say the that the place was busy, but we were personally taken aback by the large service fee with no explanation or warning. I have been to buffets all over the country and have never been hit with a service fee that anywhere approached this as a percentage or as a dollar amount. I feel sorry for somebody paying for a large group and having to come up with possible a $100 or more to pay for the service fee. It certainly left a bad taste in our mouths. We will go to one of the other restaurants in the area next time we are looking for a nice place to eat.
