Had lunch here with friends way over priced n I've had better food elsewhere in the area. This is milford pa not NYC yet you pay nyc prices for low quality food n service. Will not be going back. Very disappointed

“Lunch at Bar Louis”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2014

Bar Louis offers a surprisingly elegant atmosphere in the basement below the Hotel. The service was outstanding - from the welcoming bartender who doubled as Maitre'd to two lovely and accommodating servers that really made the experience special and enjoyable. Presentation of the appetizers and entrees artful. The food was very good - not particularly unusual use of ingredients- my husband had a chicken pot pie with a large flaky crust that was awkward to cut and eat. I ordered a kale entree that was served with a sunny side egg on top. The server was readily able and willing to return the egg to the kitchen to cook it more thoroughly for me. Pricey but nice - we'd go there again.

“VIVA BAR LOUS!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014 via mobile

I must say this area needed a restaurant like Bar Louis. When you step into BL you are transported into another dimension. I can't explain why, you just feel it. Why have I not written a review of BL yet ? So here I am catching up on my Trip Advisor reviews. I have been coming here for years and have always had great fare and drinks. I've had everything from the Signature dishes "The Bar Louis" burger (served on their bakery-made oversized English Muffins). The BL burger sits perfectly atop this muffin. Have the truffle fries instead of the reg fries both made there but TFries are a great change of pace. The Steak Frites are also fabulous. Did I mention their Sushi Pizza ! It is their own unique
recipe - nowhere else serves it like this. Wine list by the glass or bottle is quite excellent and you pay
a premium for it. Mixed drinks are also a work of art - all fresh ingredients. I have also had great FRESH fish, yes I said fresh. I recall halibut and trout were excellent. BL prides itself on fresh and local ingredients. Local pork, chicken, fish, cheeses and vegetables, etc. The restaurant truly shines in the summer when local veggies are plentiful. Give it a try and you will be back for the food as well as the atmosphere.

“Excellent food, great atmosphere, very expensive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2014

We go once in a while but the burger is about the only thing we can afford on their menu. The food is incredible… even the burger is grass fed beef and is just amazing. I have tasted a few other things and the food is really incredible. It will never disappoint. The only down side is the price but I feel it is warranted because they use all the absolute best ingredients they can find from grass fed beef to amazing homemade bread. This is a perfect example of you get what you pay for and you will get an outstanding meal with an outstanding bill. Our "splurge" is to go there for a burger and appetizer and I am never disappointed. The atmosphere is great and even the comfortable booths have throw pillows. The most amazing artwork and photography fills the walls and even the ladies room will leave you impressed.

“Modest surroundings with exceptional food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2014

The Inn has two restaurants: a formal dining room on the main floor and the bistro-like "Bar Louis." The latter, which is reviewed here, has a menu which, while not extensive, is creative and encourages selections of different tastes and sizes of dishes. Lots of restaurants now brag about "locally sourced" ingredients, but the kitchen here is both serious and honest about its claims of this nature. But the real find here is the cooking: up-to-date contemporary with the beautifully slow-cooked beef spareribs on a bed of amazing (for February) vegetables and a restrained bed of perfect potato purée. Or try the house invention called "sushi pizza" which is probably better than both the best sushi and the best pizza you have ever had and resembles neither. Board with crème brûlée? My sister ordered it and I tasted it and it was a revelation. Is there a traditionalist amongst your group? Try oysters on the half shell and the "steak frites."
