“Horrible weekend.”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

My fiancee and I were looking to spend a quiet weekend camping for our anniversary. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We booked a site at Kittatiny River Beach on the recommendation of a friend. On arrival we checked in at the main office and were directed back to the highway to access our site. The site we had booked is number 314, which according to the map is down the road from the majority of the sites. The staff made sure to explain to us that the map was misleading in that the site was not directly on the river, they did not however, mention that the site was RIGHT on the highway! The road was a stone's throw away from our site, not even blocked by trees. It felt like every car driving by could see into our site. We immediately turned back to the office to see if we could move. I didn't even have to finish my sentence and the employee knew why we were back. Since it was last minute our options were, a site directly behind the store, a site surrounded by RVs, or a plethora of sites right by the road. We opted for one that was a bit more set back (maybe 15ft rather than 10ft from the road). Finally sitting down to dinner after setting everything up, it was dark and I have never seen so many bugs in my life. I am not new to camping and understand there will be insects but this was ridiculous. Driven into the tent by the bugs we attempted to go to sleep. Attempted being the operative word since a tractor trailor drove by literally every minute. We seriously considered packing up and heading home in the middle of the night. The only thing keeping us there was that Kittatiny does not allow any refunds.

The next day after zero sleep, we took a ride over to the Walmart 5 minutes away and bought a box of ear plugs. The bug problem was reduced on day 2 and we were able to enjoy some time around the fire. Armed with our ear plugs, we thought we would finally get some rest. Soon after laying down, we began hearing an engine revving on and off. Thinking it may be another camper being obnoxious we took a walk down the road and were told there was construction happening on the highway. Wonderful. Even with the plugs, it was enough to keep us up another night.

Day 3 we took the 12 mile kayak trip down the river. No complaints about the river trip (except that 12 miles is a REALLY long way to paddle!) There were no more construction noises on night 3 and we were able to get some sleep, just in time to get up and break down. The whole weekend was a total disappointment and we certainly will not be returning. If you're looking for a nice quiet retreat into nature, look elsewhere.

We loved the campground the first Thursday night we started camping. creek sound was gorgeous till the first night. but it started Friday night. PARTY CITIES ALL OVER starts Friday night to dawn. luckily we left Saturday morning. I wished I can use any phone to complaint but there was no signal at all. I hope the people who love to enjoy natures not to have any chance to this horrible place.

Just got back from our 3rd stay this summer and again, it was nothing less than excellent. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews about this place. My fiancé and I had a great time even through the one night of heavy rain. The staff was very accommodating. We had some water on our site after the rain and the staff had no problem with allowing us to move. All very friendly. Our activity this time was Zip Lining. I highly recommend it. Unbelievable experience. If you choose to camp here be sure to say hello to Mayor Bob. This guy is a seasonal here and I can't say enough about him. Awesome guy, we feel very fortunate in having to meet him. We will be back again in August. Great times and great people. Never a disapointment. Thank you again Kittatinny. See you in August

Our canoe trip was great. The staff was friendly and accommodating at the check in. Since we were seasoned canoers, we didn't need too much instruction. The trip was supposed to be 2.5 hours, but the river was running fast so it took less time. We thought it was a bit expensive, but decided to do it anyway. Our problems came at the end of the trip.....we pulled up on the beach and there was 1 staff person around who went running without helping us land the canoe or offering to help us with the equipment. When we tried to get back to the lot, there were a number of paths and a huge set of steps, nothing at all to direct you. Since I had seen the staff member go up the steps, we thought that was the best bet to get back to the office and parking lot. The steps brought us to the camping area, where we were chased by campers unleashed and uncontrollable dogs. When we finally spotted the office and lot, we had to walk down the side of a large, rocky hill, cross a riverbed, walk through several more campsites, and then climb another set of steep steps. Honestly, ending the trip this way put a damper on what had been a great day. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Our first visit to this campground was on 5/31/14. We loved it so much we booked the following weekend at checkout. Both visits we stayed on a prime site by the creek which made for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Both times we took advantage of the activities they had to offer. The first visit we canoed down the Delaware river on a very calm 3.5 hour ride. This past trip we decided to white water raft which was a lot more exciting than the canoe ride. The staff, Jill, Dianna and Bethany were awesome. Very friendly and extremely helpful. The security made frequent rounds at night and the cleaning staff were constantly cleaning the facilities. There's washer machines and dryers on the grounds along with a small arcade and a nice size store for camping items, firewood, ice and a wide selection of other items. The location of the grounds couldn't be anymore convenient. Your minutes driving to the town of Milford, Walmart, Diners, Restaurants and I84. We are looking forward to our next visit in July. This time we will try out the Zip Line. If your looking for a campground, We highly recommend River Beach Kittatinny.

My husband and i stayed here in may during the semi off season. only a few people so we had choice of a site. It didnt matter though bc the were all a piece of work. it was my husbands first time camping, and me, im a seasoned veteran so i knew what to do. JUST to let you know, tenting veterans, this is not what i call tent friendly sites. the ground was very muddy and uneven, the stakes wouldnt even stay in the ground. there was nothing to tie our rain tarp to, and if there was a tree they demanding we removed the rope bc it was against policy. this annoyed me bc it was suppose to rain that night. i dont know if it was a fluke or not, but while we were there, there was a group of about 10 people drinking heavily and making a lot of noise. it was off season so they might of not said anything bc of the absence of children. and lastly, keep in mind, IT IS BEAR COUNTRY. you must put your food in your CAR!!!! a bear walked right up to our tent. and it was an uneasy feeling. if we had food in our tent he probably would have tried to get in.

We recently took a trip to PA and booked an overnight stay at Riverbeach Campground in Milford, PA. We have no complaints about the campground , it was great for an overnight stop, however, we have a big problem with the entrance to the campground. We have a Bigfoot truck camper that is secured to the truck with Fastgun Tie downs and have NEVER had any problem with these. The entrance to this campground is horrible, has a big ditch or gully running directly where you enter. It is off a busy road ,so, it is difficult to stop and try to avoid this ditch, also a car was coming out of the campground in the opposite direction and it was impossible to avoid this ditch. Our Fatsguns on the driver's side popped off and scratched the truck, and the camper slid to one side of the truck . This made it extremely difficult to get the camper off the truck, we had to raise and lower the legs and drive out in 1/2" increments as it was resting right on the side of our truck and the camper legs were right up against the truck on that side. I am not sure how big rigs camp here without any problems. We are fortunate that we avoided major damage to our rig. BEWARE !!!!!!!
