The Rockridge House was one of the nicer B&B my girlfriend & I stayed in during our 5 week visit to the UK. We had trouble locating the place (after turning off Hwy B3315 look for a small road off to the left .6 miles. Follow around to the left for 72 meters & house on the left) but after that all was great. Parking only for 2 cars in drive & 1 on the street. Chris our host was very friendly & welcoming. The B&B is a modern building and room on the top floor was large, bright and had a nice view to the sea. Chris allowed us to use his refrigerator to store some food items. The morning breakfasts were served at one large table seating 12. Chris prepares each meal to order. You will not leave hungry. Chris was very helpful with getting us a reservation at a local inn for dinner. We were there for a visit to the Minack Theatre. We stayed for 2 nights and will stay again when we next visit the area.

Room Tip: Top floor gives a view to the sea.

Chris was a great host, lovely home, comfy bed and great location. Minutes from the beach and coast path and a short walk to the Minack. Wonderful breakfast really enjoyed sitting with all the other guests. We stayed 2 nights very relaxing. We were also told about a good pub for supper the Rock at Treen, Chris rang and booked for us, the food was great excellent steak and service. We will be back as this is a good place to stay in a beautiful setting.

Room Tip: We had top room with ensuite and a comfy double bed, good views to the sea. Very quiet spot.

Whilst I'm sure the other rooms in the rest of the house were lovely, we were in the basement flat which had no view and in our opinion was not appropriate to let out in the condition it was in. The owner is obviously mid-renovation: the master bed room had first-fix wiring hanging out of the wall, a broken window latch and holes in the walls blocked up with tissue. A wardrobe had been used to cover a newly-cut doorway to an unfinished and dusty room that was filled with tools and materials. A large pile of boxed floor tiles obstructed the hall way and spare light fittings were piled on a shelf.

The second bedroom is a windowless box room with no ventilation and just big enough for a bunk bed. Being in the basement a boxed in rain ran through the bedroom and gurgled loudly in the morning. To allow light into the box room both it and the shower room has glass doors. The shower room is run on a pumped system with a macerator loo which is quite noisy. The shower backs up very quickly and would flood after any more than 5 minutes. If you accidently turn off the pump (the switch is unmarked and easily knocked or fiddled with by children - we turned it off while looking for a way to turn on the lights) the shower will flood within moments.

The flat is equipped with a full kitchen but the fridge was dirty and smelled of spoiled milk. There is a large TV and Sky box which we managed to switch on after realising that the batteries in the remotes had all been put in the wrong way round. Unfortunately the picture quality was so bad (couldn't work out how to fix it and the owner didn't know how to either) that we gave up trying to watch anything.

The wiring is bizarre - light switches in odd places and some lights we never managed to find a switch for. Nothing is labelled so it really is a matter of experimentation. One double socket is just at the level of the bottom bunk with no covers to stop little fingers prodding around in the night.

On the plus side breakfast was good and we enjoyed sitting around a big table chatting to fellow guests.

Room Tip: Don't take the flat!

My husband and I stayed here after walking from Penzance on the coast path. It's in a gorgeous area of the country and the BnB itself is perfect for walkers, no more than a few hundred metres from the path itself.

Chris was friendly and showed us to our room, so not sure what happened to some reviewers below! The room was clean, and a reasonable size with a good, powerful, hot shower - very welcome after a day's walk! The view from our room was of the sea, and absolutely stunning.

In many ways, we found it quite old fashioned (not a criticism). The decor was very traditional and the food was lovely, but not much choice - as Chris said, veggies get full English without the meat! There is also not much to do in e area, besides walking and the stunning Minack theatre. However, as a place to stay for a night after a hard day's trek, this was just the ticket!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a sea view!

It takes all types to make a world, but I have to say there are some pretty strange people here that have given this place negative reviews, so let's try to inject some positive comments. This place is both clean and attractive and the breakfasts are excellent. The host is laid back, but so what, and yes we all did sit around one large oval table for breakfast, but that only added to the convivial atmosphere. Those who would object to this are probably unsociable types
anyway! We stayed only one night, after seeing a play at the renowned 'Minack Theatre' but we would definitely stay here again, if only because Porthcurno is a favourite place, and this B & B is nicely situated. There is also a good pub at Treen called the 'Logan Rock Inn'. All in all then, an excellent place to stay, so let the moaning minnies go elsewhere, there's no pleasing some people!!
