this is a great place to visit if you want to know what it was like growing up in the same time as william penn. the tour guides know what they are talking about and the recreated houses show the era. the giftshop has all the little things that you could find at the time, wooden nickles and handmade arrow heads.

When my family originally told me they wanted to go see the former home of William Penn, I was thrilled. Once I learned that it was actually a reconstruction of Penn's home, I wasn't sure what to expect. But the experience was great - the home is beautifully reconstructed, and is nicely explained through both the guided tour (our guide was great) and the short video in the visitor's center. The grounds themselves are as nice as the house, with a functioning farm and gardens on the premises, and peacocks and geese roaming around. For a great shot of the front of the house, walk all the way down to the river and look back at the house. It's very picturesque. Pennsbury Manor also offers live demonstrations of the agricultural work, blacksmithing, etc. and special events during the holiday season. It's a bit off the beaten path, but certainly worth the drive.

My wife and I took time to vist this place and had a great visit. The staff members were very friendly and very helpful with everything. Our tour guide into the house itself was extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter. Great job! This is a must see place. Please make sure it also make time to see the grounds any the musems itself as well. There is a short film to see inside before headed out to the grounds. Picnic grounds are also on the property as well.

Recreates William Penn's historical country home. Lots of fascinating historical information, actors in period clothing, and interactive, fun things for all ages to do.

Pennsbury Manor is a a great place to visit. Although it is a reconstruction of what some people believe the area looked like it is still well done and historically informative. The tour guide was very good in explaining what things were most likely historically correct and which things were probably not part of the original manor but had been added later. Theresa, our guide, added quite a lot to the tour by discussing items based on her historical knowledge and studies (she was a student intern). I recommend taking the kids and grandkids. The tour we took was a little over an hour but you could spend much more time if you take in the animals or one of the specialty events.
