I am begging my husband for us to go here and now w/being highly allergic to wasps I now am terrified to even go here!!! Guess this may cancel my begging to my husband. I am also giving the place a 5 star because truthfully I have never been there and cannot rate the place unfairly.

To my knowledge this is the only Civil War Era 4-4-0 American Locomotive in regular operation in the United States. #17 The York is a letter perfect reproduction of an 1860's American Locomotive. Currently running a round trip to either Glen Rock or Hanover Junction you will not be disappointed. The crew, the cast and the ride are all excellent. The route is the former Northern Central Railroad and is the route President Lincoln took to Gettysburg in 1863. This is worth the trip from anywhere in my opinion, especially if you are visiting Baltimore, Gettysburg or the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. An added bonus is the wonderful trail which runs adjacent to the tracks, great for biking, hiking or running.

Rode the Hanover Junction ride with friends on a Friday. Very informative narrator provides an excellent historical perspective of the rail line and the area during the Civil War era.

Train ride is not first class comfort, and that's because you are riding on replica coaches from the Civil War era. There is one car with padded seats, and the ride is NOT uncomfortable.

The layover at Hanover Junction provides time to visit the museum in the former depot and photograph the train and/or speak with the train crew.

The gem of the railroad is their steam locomotive. While built just a few years ago, it was constructed to a design of the mid to late 19th century (while incorporating present-day safety features).

There are clean toilet facilities at both New Freedom and Hanover Jct., and the train crew indicated there is also a toilet on the train.

Keep in mind that the train is not air conditioned. The windows in the train cars all open, but on a very hot and humid day there would be little respite from the heat. If this is a factor for you, plan your visit accordingly.

With rides of different lengths and themes, there is something for everyone here and well worth a visit!

An excellent experience for all ages.

Well, Let me start by saying it was soooo Hokey!!! It was unbelievably loud(like screaming at the top of your lungs) We were told there was restroom on board and there was not. Was told we could bring peanuts or crackers to eat and was told when we boarded absolutely not allowed food or drinks. They had no comedy team doing anything on the way back was told they couldn't do it because people were facing both ways??? Anyway for 70. a couple a complete rip-off... Won't be recommending to anyone.
