Richmond House Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 5 New Holland B&B and Inns
Reviewed 1 September 2014 via mobile

By far Richmond House has been one of my best bed and breakfast experience. I have had great experiences elsewhere but there is something unexplainable about Richmond House. I am going to have to attribute it to the sincere and loving care that Dolores and Tim provide. They have thought of the little things and are great resources for Amish facts and neighboring town info. I have always wanted to go to Amish country in Pennsylvania and I had high expectations. My husband on the other hand was being gracious and allowed his wife of 23 years to live out one of her dreams--not on his bucket list. We originally decided to spend 2 nights at the B&B and one night in Philly so my husband could get to enjoy the historical sights and feel like he had something that he could do. Well, after our 1st day there we decided to stay the 3rd night. This was mostly in part that the comfortable bed, over the top breakfast, easy accessibility to all things Amish and the at ease feeling at Richmond house. I am also grateful that Dolores was able to put together the opportunity to eat dinner at an Amish home was definitely icing on the cake. We will definitely be back.

This was a return visit for us with our staying in a different room each time. Each room was spacious and absolutely spotless with its own private bath. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! This is truly a great inn!

Room Tip: All rooms are tastefully decorated. The rooms in the back are a bit quieter.

We enjoyed our stay very much. From the friendliness of the hosts to the charming accommodation, everything was what we expected and more. Dolores is a wealth of information and a great cook. Don't forget to congratulate Tim about is gardening skills. We highly recommend the Richmond House.

We recently enjoyed a very comfortable stay at Richmond House during a visit to Lancaster County. Dolores and Tim are fine hosts who deliver personal service and comfort in their lovely home.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with good Wi-Fi reception and we enjoyed Dolores' very tasty breakfasts each morning. Each day brought something different and delicious. Portions are plentiful and you will not go hungry!
New Holland is well placed to drive out each day to see the attractions of Lancaster County. The rural countryside in the area is very appealing to the eye and the pristine farms provide a super backdrop. There are plenty of opportunities to sample local food and the ice cream is particularly delicious! Having said that be aware that if you are looking for fine dining in the evening then you may be disappointed. Restaurants tend more towards the family oriented and smorgasbord style and close fairly early in many cases - to be expected given the affiliations of much of the local populace - but it is as well to be aware before you go. There's nothing wrong with this and the food you do eat will be plentiful and tasty - it's all about managing expectations.
In terms of local attractions the steam train ride from Strasburg is fun and the town of Lititz is the jewel in the crown of Lancaster County's small towns. Whatever you do there are plenty of opportunities to get out and explore this lovely part of Pennsylvania.

Room Tip: All of the rooms that we saw are of a generous size and offer comfort and space.

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at the Richmond House since it was around the 4th of July weekend. Dolores and Tim were helpful, and fun to talk with. A gourmet breakfast was enjoyed by all. Our room was exceptional. Thank you.

Once again we had the pleasure of staying at the Richmond House Bed and Breakfast. This trip was both for business and leisure and was longer that our usual weekend stay. It gave us an opportunity to meet several different groups of travelers and see the cross section of not only America, but of the international flavor of travelers who frequent the bed and breakfast inns. It is no surprise that followers of Tripadvisor would have seen the excellent reviews of Tim and Dolores (The exceptional Inn keepers) and made their way to this New Holland retreat. It seems that your readers from outside the USA are perceptive travelers and want to stay at the best locations throughout the states. I found out that there is a large number of repeat travelers from all over the globe that seek out the Richmond House for its hospitality, warmth, comfort, and especially the wonderful food served for their guests. The main “living” room is a gathering place for conversation and getting to know your fellow travelers, but the main breakfast room is where it all comes together. It’s difficult to explain the overall contented feeling you get from great food and conversation while seated at a single, large table surrounded by perfect appointments. It’s something that you just have to experience. That’s why we keep coming back. It is truly a new, and pleasurable experience each time.

Room Tip: All five rooms have their own appeal.

This place is awesome, and the owners are fabulous. I felt like I was literally staying with family the whole time. Not only were the grounds kept exceptionally clean, but the rooms were just as well kept and clean. The breakfasts were to die for! Dolores and Tim, also gave us some fabulous recommendations on where to go… I’m so glad we took their advice. I will definitely be returning here.
