“Quaint B&B, convenient location”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. It was our first time staying in a B&B and we were happy with our experience. We stayed in Room 4 which was small but comfortable. The breakfast was good but very carb heavy. What really sets this B&B apart is the location! Parking is provided and it's within a 10 minute walk of everything: Bucks County Playhouse, Lambertville, great restaurants/bars, etc. I would definitely recommend Porches for a couple looking for a romantic getaway.

We just retuned from a one night stay at Porches on the Towpath in New Hope Pennsylvania. My husband and I are seasoned travelers and this was by far the best bed and breakfast we ever visited. Built in 1815, Porches is located on a tiny private road along the towpath, a bit dificult to find but well worth the effort. It is situated just a half a block from the main street close to all the shops and restaurants. The guest rooms and common areas are filled with tasteful antique furnishings with beautiful paintings and charming bric-a brac. The owner and manager were helpful and friendly and served a delicious hot breakfast; I enjoyed waffles and bacon and my husband had eggs and toast. They also serve coffee, tea and juice. All of the guest rooms are unique; some sleep two, others four and some rooms sleep up to six guests; perfect for a family vacation. Some of the rooms have private porches and some share a common porch. About half of the rooms have a large flat screen TV, while the other rooms have none. All of the guest rooms have a private bath; some have stall showers and others have bathtubs and showers. Some rooms have a fireplace but most are non-functional. Rooms are availabe in the main house as well as in outlying buildngs on the property. We stayed in room #7 with two floors, a Queen size bed on each floor, a large sitting area, a private porch and a flat screen TV. The best rooms are #6, #7, #11, and #12. While in New Hope we enjoyed a gourmet four course pice fixed dinner at the Logan Inn. We will definately return to Porches on the Towpath the next time we visit New Hope. It was a memorable experience.

Room Tip: The best rooms are #6, #7, #11, and 12.

Porches is a wonderful retreat. It is a great choice IF you are looking for the following:
• Ambiance, comfort and character....John has done a masterful job of blending antiques and decorative objects to create a unique, charming getaway. He has not neglected comfort - beds are comfortable, linens and towels are high quality. Not for you if you are searching for frilly Victorian or the cookie cutter design of chain hotels. Great place!!

Room Tip: If a quieter room is important, book room in one of the two buildings outside the main house.

John is a wonderful host, making us feel right at home during our 3 night stay in Room 3. The house was quiet, beautifully decorated and in a perfect location to enjoy all that New Hope offers within walking distance. Breakfast every morning was delightful, meeting and chatting with other guests over a delicious meal. We visit the area frequently and will make Porches our home base on all our future trips.

Stayed here for one night in Room 12. The price is reasonable and booking/check in were easy. We had people staying above us and I know the building is older but you could hear EVERYTHING... and at one point it sounded like they were rearranging furniture. Our room was beautiful and I loved the tub for 2. It was clean and decorated very nice. The only issue with the room itself was the TV. They did tell us if you turned it off by the remote that it's a hassle to get it back on (which we did by mistake). We ended up with no TV to fall asleep to as we both like to do AND it would have maybe drowned out the elephants above us. I would maybe stay here again if on a budget but would probably try a second floor room.

A group of five women all 20-30yrs decided to get away from city life and head to New Hope to celebrate our friend/sister's 30th birthday. We stayed in rooms 11 and 12. Everything about our stay was wonderful. The hosts were very gracious and accommodating. I am a nursing mother and the management went out of their way to make sure I was able to store my milk over the weekend. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. I even got a chance to soak in the gorgeous tub. If you are looking to get away from NY/NY or DC, this was the perfect place. We also all agreed that we will return with our spouses/partners to enjoy the place as a romantic getaway.

John is a wonderful host and Porches is a lovely getaway in the romantic town of New Hope (with the edgier Lambertville right across the bridge)... no need for a car but certainly, rent bikes or hike the great paths along the Delaware River.

enjoy...
