“Great Place to Stay!”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed my stay at Porches very much. It was clean and neat and in a perfect location as you can walk to many things. I have to admit that the best part of my stay though was the breakfast! John and his staff did a wonderful job! Anyone that is looking for a nice, clean place to stay in this location, I highly recommend it!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for a weekend getaway. The location was perfect. Tucked away from the main street yet all dining and shops are within walking distance. We stayed in room #1 which was very nice. The owner John (and his faithful dog Mimi) were above and beyond accomadating. Even offering to cook us breakfast when we were late getting up and checking out. Definately planning a return trip as I type!

Well, I can say plenty. My wife & I stayed in room #10 for one night on a Wednesday. The room is nicely decorated but very small....more like cramped. The mattress was very soft to the point of uncomfortable. The TV had a satellite connection and we had wi-fi using a log-in number provided by the owners. Unfortunately, dust was everywhere. The screen on the TV, the furniture, lighting fixtures and especially the grille for the ventilator fan in the bathroom. Breakfast was egg strata which we believe was reheated in the microwave. I requested scrambled egg whites which were made to order. We weren't offered or served anything else with the eggs other than toast and assorted beverages....which we thought was odd since we saw some pictures on their website with fruit cups on the table. Some of the rooms acutally have the sink in the sleeping area. The stairs to all the rooms are narrow and quite steep.Chrissie was very nice and helpful but, in our opinion, this doesn't make up for the B&B's shortcomings.

Room Tip: If you choose room #10, make sure that it's been dusted. Cottage rooms have TV's. Check in a...

This was our first time at a B&B so I have no other inns to compare it to. We stayed in room #7 (nautical theme) for a 1-night stay. The room was pretty unique; it is in private quarters off the main house and had 2 floors with plenty of windows. We found ourselves enjoying the coziness of the loft with a queen day bed built into an alcove. The room was clean and the breakfast was very good. Since it was winter, breakfast was served in an intimate dining room where you can meet with other guests. Staff member, Jennifer, was very friendly, helpful and ready to offer anything we needed.

Room Tip: Check their website to see the décor/features each room as they're all different. They have roo...

This was one of the best bed and breakfast experiences we have ever had. It is a wonderful unique and distinctive B&B with marvelously and carefully decorated rooms. You will never regret your stay here. The folks are kind and caring and every need was attentively cared for. The Best! Six Stars.

What a great experience! The accommodations, hot breakfast and room 1 exceeded our expectations. What a great place to remove the stress of the city, honeymoon, or enjoy a special occasion. Private entrances and bathrooms were an added surprise. This is small quant compound is one of a kind and has 4 or 5 separate detached cottages from the main house.

Park you car and picture yourself hanging around reading a good book while listening to the sounds of the train. The Inn Keeper (John) and his staff were friendly and welcoming. Consider this spot for your trip to New Hope.

We stayed in this unique inn for the first time as a local vacation close to NYC. We spent three days bike riding, walking, and taking in the charm of New Hope & the surrounding area. There could not be a better home base for all of it. Overlooking the towpath, with a manager who simultaneously attends to everything, but gives a sense of total privacy, we particularly enjoyed sitting on the upper of the two porches. In fact, we ate meals there, read, looked at the treetops & passers-by. There are books in every room, a statue in our bathroom. You are brought back in time to an earlier era.
