“A great little hideaway tucked in along the towpath”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We decided to take a quick trip up to New Hope over Spring Break with our 13 year old daughter. My wife found Porches on the internet and decided that this looked like the perfect spot. After calling and speaking with the owner, he was able to make arrangements for us. We arrived at Porches and were greeted by the owner and his spunky little dog. The rooms we booked were in the main building second level and looked out on the tow path. Beautifully furnished and clean, quiet, and very pleasant. We selected rooms without a TV, but our daughter was still able to be connected to the WIFI. Breakfast both mornings was excellent, and the owner was able to adjust the menu to meet the needs of a youngster who has special requirements for her meals. We received all sorts of good information for our 3 day visit and will be returning in the future.

Room Tip: Room choice is pretty broad. I suggest that you give them a call and outline what your requests mig...

We just returned from a 2 night stay at the Porches on the Towpath. We stayed in room 12 (which we loved) but also had the opportunity to see a few of the other rooms. We both decided that we would have been happy in any of the rooms. They are all unique and appealing with handpicked antiques by the owner John. John could not have been any more accommodating or helpful with recommendations from restaurants and shopping to antiquing and gardening. John has lived in or around New Hope for what must be forever as he seems to be familiar with everything and everybody in the area. He also makes a terrific breakfast. When he discovered that my wife was gluten-free, he even bought special bread for her (a very nice and appreciated touch).

The location of the inn could not have been any more ideal. It is quiet and secluded yet only steps from the center of town. It truly is directly on the towpath which is a lovely place for a scenic walk or a pleasant run.

Over the years we have stayed at many places in the New Hope area and now have a new favorite. We are looking forward to returning soon, and we cannot recommend Porches on the Towpath highly enough.

My wife and I stayed at Porches for the first time in April and will go back at least once a year. John and his staff treat you like friends you have known for years. We stayed in room 9 which was gorgeous, cozy and very comfortable. Even though the rooms next to us and below us were occupied, our room felt secluded and quiet. If you need two beds, get 11. It is a work of art. Everything that should be immaculately clean (bathroom/room) is immaculately clean Accents that should be charmingly rustic are charmingly rustic. Don't waste time making plans -- just show up and ask John for recommendations. Breakfasts were great. Bring or rent bikes if you are so inclined. The towpaths offer easy and safe biking to parks and villages on both sides of the Delaware river.

Room Tip: Nine was great for couples who can do stairs (second level). Eleven is gorgeous if you need two bed...

My wife and I spent two nights at the Porches in New Hope to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary. Everything about our stay was excellent. The breakfasts were tasty and healthful. John made sure that everything we needed was provided. We are planning to return on a future occasion.

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed my stay at Porches very much. It was clean and neat and in a perfect location as you can walk to many things. I have to admit that the best part of my stay though was the breakfast! John and his staff did a wonderful job! Anyone that is looking for a nice, clean place to stay in this location, I highly recommend it!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for a weekend getaway. The location was perfect. Tucked away from the main street yet all dining and shops are within walking distance. We stayed in room #1 which was very nice. The owner John (and his faithful dog Mimi) were above and beyond accomadating. Even offering to cook us breakfast when we were late getting up and checking out. Definately planning a return trip as I type!

Well, I can say plenty. My wife & I stayed in room #10 for one night on a Wednesday. The room is nicely decorated but very small....more like cramped. The mattress was very soft to the point of uncomfortable. The TV had a satellite connection and we had wi-fi using a log-in number provided by the owners. Unfortunately, dust was everywhere. The screen on the TV, the furniture, lighting fixtures and especially the grille for the ventilator fan in the bathroom. Breakfast was egg strata which we believe was reheated in the microwave. I requested scrambled egg whites which were made to order. We weren't offered or served anything else with the eggs other than toast and assorted beverages....which we thought was odd since we saw some pictures on their website with fruit cups on the table. Some of the rooms acutally have the sink in the sleeping area. The stairs to all the rooms are narrow and quite steep.Chrissie was very nice and helpful but, in our opinion, this doesn't make up for the B&B's shortcomings.

Room Tip: If you choose room #10, make sure that it's been dusted. Cottage rooms have TV's. Check in a...
