Porches on the Towpath
Ranked #3 of 19 New Hope B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 January 2007

My stay at Porches in December 2006 was my third in a year - obviously, it's a winner in my book! It's location within New Hope is perfect - you can park your car and not use it again all weekend. John gives excellent recommendations for local restaurants and Chrissy is very accomodating with breakfast, room ammenities, etc. The rooms are really beautiful and unique - all done in great taste with a flair. The decor and ammenities are a great value considering the average room rate. I would agree that Porches does feel a little "cluttered" when you first see the main porch outside, but once you realize that it is John's collection of amazing of antiques waiting for the perfect spot within the Inn, it becomes part of the charm. All in all, I wouldn't even think of trying to find another place in New Hope and will continue to go back 1-2 times a year!

The two of us stayed at Porches on the Towpath in New Hope. Even before we arrived we were given great directions, a spot to park, and even an envelope with our room details because we were arriving really late, 10:30pm on New Year's Eve. The minute we saw our room we loved it...we had our own NYE night! In the morning we work up to the smell of bananna pancakes, fruit and coffee and got to sit around a dining room table with some of the other guest...it was a nice way to talk and make an aquaintence with others. The room was so meticulously decorated down to the Santa hat on the iron lady sculpture in the bathroom to the xmas decor on the wall pictures. The lime green walls with white trim and the carefully chosen antique furniture was beautiful with a modern twist. The whole Bed -N- Breakfast was just so cozy.

The only downside was no tv in the room, which for some might be a plus, but for us city people it was culture shock at first...needless to say we talked more and enjoyed each others company on another level.

Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay and the location was terrific.

New Hope is great for a weekend getaway...Porches is in a great location, you can walk everywhere..We stayed in room 1 which was very nice...The decor was great, but could use a paint job to make it a five star review...No complaints..It ws fun and comfortable, and breakfast was very nice and filling...Chrissy the innkeeper was the best..Though we did find it odd that we were never introduced to the two male innkeepers..Oh well, Porches was quaint, and I wouldnt have changed my decision if I had to make the decision again...Mostly because its not on the busy Main St like the others that are in walking distance such as Logan Inn or Mansion Inn..Also, it was very nice to hear the whistle of the Ivy Railroad train go by every half hour...One thing missing was a working fireplace, and the bath mat in the bathroom should be replaced...Other then that 5 stars!

We stayed at Porches for our one year anniversary and it couldn't have been better! Christy was so helpful and accomodating....John was so pleasant and really takes care of the B&B. WE were really impressed with the decor and the gardens. We would have never known that this wonderful B&B exists right in the center of town. We loved it!!!!! and we will be back and we will only tell our favorite people!

I stayed at Porches for two nights, and had a wonderful weekend. The rooms were each decorated differently with their own style, and individual charachter. The inn keepers were very gracious and accomodating. They really made you feel at home and were ready to point you in the direction of a great day trip, dinning spot, etc. The secluded yet centeralized location of this B&B made it special. We walked from the bus from NYC and had no need for a car to enjoy ourselves for a few days.

Since Porches is close to so many things to do and see. On the other hand the location on the alley makes it seem like a real getaway with a beatiful garden to gaze down on from the balcony, one of the best features of the inn. The only thing I would put as a minus is some of the common areas looked as if they coud benefit from more regular cleaning, but this didn't bother me.

we were able to see some of the other rooms before leaving and we will be back to try some of these out some day soon hopefuly. If you are looking for a relaxing stay in New Hope I would recommend Porches.

Porches offers world class accommodations in an elegant and luxurious atmosphere, while maintaining a low profile within the village. Located at a dead-end alley on the towpath, this was a real find. The Innkeeper was very accommodating, bringing us early morning coffee before the breakfast hour. The breakfast was served on the porch and was beautifully presented. This is a great place for a memorable stay!
