Had a car problem on Rt. 81 at the top of the hill outside New Milford. Blue Ridge was one of two lodgings within driving distance. Checked out the other place and immediately headed for Blue Ridge - you should do the same. Frankly, I'd have slept on a sofa at my mother-in-law's at that point. Of course she IS a great cook! Fortunately, the Blue Ridge had a vacancy and "Yogi's" wife discounted the rate to $55 due to my car trouble. The rooms are small, but immaculate with a firm full size bed, desk with chair, floor lamp, cable TV, mini-fridge and microwave. A/C is on the back wall - an inconvenient location, but it has a remote and it works. Never saw a heat control or outlet, but the room was comfortably warm on a chilly September night. Did I mention the free Wi-Fi? Small, but clean bathroom - the shower is a tad on the "too small" size and large people will be washing their legs with their butts in the wind. Two small tablets of soap, a (thin) wash cloth, hand and bath towel complete the amenities. If you only stay at the Ritz, you probably will not be happy here. However, if life's an adventure and you enjoy good value, don't hesitate to stay. The Green Gables, an Italian-American restaurant next door, serves decent food at reasonable prices (try the breaded and fried green beans and don't skip desert!) and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Also try Murphy's Hot Dog stand across the road from the motel - terrific variations on the lowly dog - the Jimmy Dog is particularly good. The owner is a refugee from Bloomfield, NJ, so be nice to him. Bottom line - good value, friendly folks. Just don't expect anyone to be able to conjure up a repairman on the weekend. If the A/C breaks, heat to the Green Gables for a tall cool one.
PS - the local's told me the owner of the Blue Ridge was nicknamed Yogi due to his Asian heritage.
