“Great sushi!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

I always stop here at least once or twice per month! Sushi is prepared right in front of you and the selection is amazing. The staff are extremely polite and helpful!

“Simply terrific Sushi Buffet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

If you are a fan of Sushi and other Japanese cuisine, don't miss this one!
We have been going for years but had not been recently. My wife took me on fathers day, one of two days, (mothers day the other ) where dinner is served all day. For a buffet you might think a little pricey, $30.95 per person plus drinks and tip. The food outstanding! Always abundantly stocked with the finest and freshest! Hot food as well and also terrific! Desert is modest but who has room after that great main food. Lunch other than those two days is also a treat and a bit less money, around $21 pp

“Minado - The Best Asian Seafood Buffet in Philadelphia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Minado is where we go when we want to treat ourselves, when we're hungry for something special, celebrating an occasion, or in the mood for seafood. Minado is the largest Japanese buffet we've ever seen. There is a large sushi/sashimi buffet separate from the hot buffet and also a separate section of exotic salads. On Fridays there is special seafood including a pile of crab legs (although the crab legs are served cold which is a bit of a disappointment).

Special items include deep fried battered shrimp with the head on, skewered on a bamboo stick, teriyaki beef, fish and chicken, whole baked fish, scallops, fried shrimp, tempura blue crab, standard tempura...and all kinds of exotic appetizers that we've never seen before in a restaurant.

My wife likes the custom made soups, which she orders with Udon noodles and lots of spice, and the special crepes they make to order at the noodle and dessert station.

Once we were there for lunch and our waiter Michael mentioned that sometimes they get "fish collars" which they prepare specially. He checked and found out that they had gotten some salmon in that morning and were able to prepare some fish collars for us, so we had an extra special treat.

When we eat out, we eat at Minado more than any other restaurant. There is always seating, always a huge selection, and always some surprises. The dessert area includes green tea ice cream, always-sweet oranges (sometimes blood oranges), small Japanese cookies and lots of pastries that are especially popular with children.

The sushi line has everything from sushi rolls to raw fish, rish roe and clams, with a variety of sauces.

It is hard to describe this without photos but suffice to say that this buffet will astonish you if you love Japanese food. The seafood is always fresh and safe. We've been coming here for 8 years and are never disappointed. There is a wine store next door in case you want to "bring your own" wine to have with dinner, which the server is happy to serve.

I can honestly say that Minado is the best restaurant we've ever eaten in and the place we go to reward ourselves, when we're really hungry, when we have a craving for seafood and when we want to celebrate special occasions with friends/family.

“It's the place that keeps on pleasing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

Yet another pleasing dinner at a high quality sushi treasure. The selection as always was spot on, the sushi fresh and tasty, with only a few issues. Some of the salads were not the usual, which was a slight disappointment, and getting a raw oyster was like fighting a bear, although it's not really the restaurants fault. People simply feel they have to stuff their plate full and to heck with anyone in line behind them. I figure they should either put two trays out at a time, or make it a six oyster limit each time you go up. The desserts for me were a real blah type moment, as many of the choices were empty plates, and what was there was not tasty in the least, but since we go for the sushi, it was fine to have less then wonderful desserts.

“Great Food but watch out for MSG”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

It has been a long time since I've been here. This is because they charged a lot for a not-very-quality dining experience. I was pleasantly surprised that they have changed, presenting quality and expensive dining choices with great service. The food was delicious. But because I am sensitive to MSG, I will not be back. Fantastic vegetarian Sushi, Crepes made to order, Hibachi, fresh fish choices that were among the best fish dishes I've tasted, Oden Soup with Age, Shiitake Salad, Asparagus with mmm sauce, amazing and unique selections. And Green Tea ice cream and delightful deserts.
