A Mom and Pop pub with house made smoked meats at bargain prices. The Reuben Poppers appetizer gave us all the flavor and texture of a genuine Reuben rolled up into small, carraway flavored fried balls of deliciousness. How'd they do that?

My wife's BLT was delicious with the almost overpowering taste of smoke filling her mouth. Not like any belly bacon we'd ever had before.

The weakest item we had was my Ox Roast sandwich. Claiming to be thin sliced prime rib, it was so thin and overcooked as to be crumbly and an unfortunate gray color, none of the pinkness one expects in a good prime rib. Perhaps a little thicker slicing and less time on the steam table might be an improvement. Regardless, the sandwich was still a bargain and I left filled and satisfied.

We'd hoped to take away some of the house smoked Italian sausage and sandwich sliced ham, but had to settle for the ham and bacon instead. I can't identify the wood used, perhaps oak, but it was the same for both meats, lending them similar flavors. The smoke flavor is so overpowering as to leave a too long lingering flavor on the palate. If you're going to use a smoke that big and flavorful, it might be wise to cut back on the time a bit to mellow the flavor.

Nice, down home atmosphere, friendly service and just down the street from a pretty little beach. Highly recommended!

We always eat dinner at the Freeport Restaurant when we're in town for wine tastings. A local B&B suggested it (they eat there a lot too). The food is always very tasty and the atmosphere is homey. We'll stop by again when we're in the area next!

The Perch is more than you can eat and good. The bacon is fresh smoked and has no chemicals. Freeport is best for prime rib and stuffed scrod for dinner and has a quiet dinning atmosphere. Don't order the Pizza though and stick with the seafood.

Every time we are in the Erie area we make it a point to visit the Freeport Inn for lunch. We have never been disappointed. Nice selection of appetizers (fried pickles (we love um)) soups and sandwiches.

Finally made it to the Freeport after hearing and reading very good reviews. Was not disappointed. The devore is nautical charming with a variety of rooms to sit it. We were in the bar area and it was surprisingly quiet. The menu is huge and there is tons of variety for all tastes. We had the perch basket with fries and it was several pieces of fish and a ton of fries. Could not eat all of them but they will be dinner tomorrow. The perch was lightly battered and crispy. The perch also comes on a sandwich and dinner platter. We also had the deep fried pickles. They were excellent and partly the reason I couldn't finish all the perch. There was a lot of pickles that we're lightly battered and crispy. They were the 2nd best pickles that I ever had. The beer and wine selections are large with a lot of the local wines on the menu. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. All of our food came out in a timely fashion and was piping hot. For those of you not familiar with lake Erie perch, you have to try it. This not what grocery stores sell in frozen blocks. That is ocean perch. The next time I'm there I'll try what they call Yellow Pike which actually is Walleye. It is also a very good fish from Lake Erie.
Prices are reasonable too. If you are anywhere near Northeast, PA go to this place. Park in the back, it is easier getting in the restaurant. The locals knew this entrance.
