“Average restaurant”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

We ate here with friends. The restaurant is not big, small bar area with a few tables and an upstairs area, we were seated upstairs. The waitress forgot one of the drinks and it was long wait before it came. The food was "ok" not great but decent right in line with the prices. If you are not a picky eater you would be happy with dinner here.

“This place is pathetic.”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

I dined here several years ago: found a hair in my salad and a funny taste to my bread. I happened to know a server who worked there and mentioned I thought the bread had a perfume taste. Asked if they reused their bread. He told me "yes". This is illegal in PA! So we haven't been back for many years, but had a party of 5 to entertain, and decide to give it a try. Sorry to say; it's still pathetic. First, you don't want to be seated too far to the back of the room, or the stench of urine from the Unisex bathroom will overpower you. It's no more than 10 feet from your table. Just a step up affair. Thankfully, it has a door. The waitress was working both as waitress and bartender, and also busboy. She really was pretty unsure of herself. The rolls, this time, had a still funny taste. It seemed as if maybe they had been previously handled. Maybe it was psychological on my part. But the salad was not in my mind. It was lettace that had sat all day without refrigeration. As wilted as could be. The veal romano was at best fair. Not as crisp as it could have been when it came out. The vegetables in marinarra sauce was pretty decent. That's about the extent of decent. The prices were way overboard for this sort of dining. I see why they are offering so many coupons and discounts. Afteer one attempt at this place, anyone should know better than to return.

“Another place during D & L's travels”
Reviewed 11 October 2012

Go and meet the owners. Family run place! Only down fall is the salad 95% lettuce. Wife and I went for our anniversary Oct. 10. You would expect at least cucumbers peppers carrots and more than one piece of tomato on the salad but not here. The rest of the meal was good. If you like sea food you must try the sea food and lag. dinner. You get clams, oysters, fish, shrimp scallops and more fantastic. If you like a bar atmosphere eat on the first floor more dinning room second floor.

“First time customers - Very good experience!”
Reviewed 7 October 2012

Ate at Michael A's in Oakmont on a Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. Did not have any wait but within 15 minutes of being seated, the place was full (it isn't a very large place though). Michael A's seating is all in the bar area and the booths are very small - they can only seat 2 people. There were also a few tables toward the back of the bar. Menu had a nice variety of food but mostly Italian which was what we were hungry for! Service was fast and food was excellent. Not alot of atmostphere. We ordered pasta primavera, lasagna (both dinners came with a side salad AND soup), a side of french fries, a soda, a mixed drink and a pecan ball and our bill was less than $50 which we thought was a great deal. We would go back and recommend to family/friends.

“Should be near top of local choices - you will not leave wanting”
Reviewed 4 February 2012

Michael A's is a steady-rotation favorite in Oakmont. Dining there is a joy. The menu is very deep and each choice features both soup and salad, bread and sides are also offered. Portions are sizable. Quality of preparation is very strong. The style puts a focus on the food without fanfare. Very affordable and everything is good. The operators are family and it carries over into the homey-feel of the establishment. Try the cod, the veal or sole.
