We've been here several times and we like the food and the view from outside on the deck overlooking the hills and countryside whatever the season. What we don't like is the service--we talked about this the other night. Since we've been at least a couple of dozen times over the past six or seven years and have come from 40 miles away to do so, we feel this is not a one-time impression.
The servers tend to be too impatient and forgetful. Of course, it's not every time, but over the past several years, it seems this way--forgetting a drink, an appetizer, the bread, whatever. Unapologetic and young--maybe that's the reason. We aren't old, but it also obvious that the Cactus Grill is aiming for a younger crowd because the entertainment is extraordinarily loud when we come and there is a band or entertainer. Sitting outside, one would not think it mattered, but it does. When you have to shout at the waitstaff to be heard, that's too loud.
We understand why, of course, but it has meant that we have probably crossed off this lovely place with its rustic charm simply because you can't please everyone--and we don't seem to be in the age bracket they care to please. I'm sorry about this and maybe we'll come back on a weekday afternoon when things are more peaceful. Birdsong beats band every time.
